Scoreless midway through the first. Kraus has had two of the best opportunities so far.
Plattsburgh's Kayla Meneghin fell and went shoulder first into the boards behind the Adrian net trying to follow up on a Sheeran pass and had to be helped off the ice.
Moriarty scores on the power play with 7 seconds left in the period.
Second half of the 1st was filled with penalties. Kudos to the Cardinals players adjusting their power play without Meneghin. Kraus shifted from the blue line to her real position of forward and freshman Annie Katonka was manning Kraus' spot on the blue line for the two power plays the Cards had since the injury.
Plattsburgh shuts out Adrian 1-0, advancing to the championship game of the UNO Classic tomorrow despite being without one of their best forwards for most of the game.
Great game to open the UNO Classic with Plattsburgh skating to the 1-0 win on Moriarty's goal as the seconds ran off the 1st period and Abbott's perfect effort in net (not up on collegehockeystats.net as I write this, but I think it was 25/25).
Not quite the electric atmosphere in Stafford as the Norwich game 10 days ago.
Meneghin was injured about 8 minutes of the 1st. It looked like Coach Houle was mixing parts to get Meneghin and Sheeran on together and match up against some Adrian D. A 2x1 developed with Sheeran breaking on left wing and tossing to Meneghin on her right at the top of the crease to Adrain 'tender Turner's gloveside. The pass was just beyond Meneghin's reach and possibly, helped by a D, Meneghin lost her skates and went heavily into the end boards. Meneghin was down for a bit and left with ice to her forehead, but able to skate off.
Plattsburgh scored on the powerplay as 1st the period ended. Sheeran had made a cute loop move about 18:30 with a quick forehand from in close to Turner. That attempt was cleared away, but a frenzy of pressure descended on Turner's crease, culminating in Sheeran's shot on Turner, rebound found and in by Moriarity for the only score of the game.
I thought both squads a bit undisciplined in taking what might be seen as selfish penalties during the course of such a tight game.
Elmira handled Middlebury 4-1. Freshman Emma Crocker had 2 goals and assist for Elmira. Elmira plays Plattsburgh tomorrow for the UNO Classic championship at 5. Prior to that Adrian and Middlebury will square off at 2 pm.
In other action, UMB defeated Wesleyan and Endicott defeated Stevenson in the first two games of the Codfish Bowl Invitational. That sets up Wesleyan vs Stevenson at 1 pm and Endicott vs UMB at 3 pm.
Elmira wins 4-2 (ENG) over Plattsburgh to win the UNO Classic. Plattsburgh is now 1-2 vs ranked teams, all at home.
Endicott won 2-1 in OT over UMB to take the Codfish Bowl Invitational.
Plattsburgh outshot Elmira 64-24 and only scored 2 goals?! Looks like the Elmira goaltender stood on her head. Congrats to her!
The box score shows that Endicott scored at the 19:20 mark of OT. Does this game officially count as a tie since OT was longer than 5 minutes and nobody scored within that time frame?

If the tournament announced NCAA tournament overtimes as the way to break a tie, then it counts.
Basically you have approved OT solutions for tournaments:
1. 5 min OT (NCAA tie if no result) followed by a shootout.
2. Play 20 min periods until somebody wins.
