lol. Let me get this straight...A Conn tie and one goal a loss on the road vs. Hamilton [a team that was in 1st place nearly the whole season] is....somehow Worse than Mighty Ammy losing to possibly the worst team in the Conf with #2 seed on the line. Ya, ok sparky. Yet somehow the voters give them a pass and they stay ranked.

I've been saying all year that anyone who would rank Endicott is lost. And the Colby game proved that.

Amherst is ahead because they beat out Connecticut on two of the three criteria on this weeks work sheet. It is numbers with the NCAA. Go to https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/icehockey-women/d3 and click on the East Public PDF and it will show you how the NCAA rankings are arrived at.

Conn is now ahead in the new ranking as they won 2/3 Primary criteria and the Secondary criteria.

Morrisville is a good team but no way they’re top 8 in the East.

Secondary is only taken into consideration if the other criteria are a tie. In this case it is not needed. At least that is the way it was explained previously.

I disagree with how they arrived at those numbers. Morrisville is second in results vs ranked opponents, but they are 8th in In-Division win-loss percentage and 17th in Strength of Schedule. Hamilton should be 7th. Morrisville is 8th as all the other teams near them in In-Division Win-Loss % have no wins against ranked opponents.

Indeed it is not. Conn has 2 of 3 over Amherst in the primary criteria and is ranked ahead.

I just looked again at the sheet. Morrisville does win in win/loss % (.696 to .625)in division and resuls vs ranked opponents (.667 to .325). Hamilton wins in SOS (.547 to .508) Therefore Morrisville is ranked ahead of Hamilton because the secondary is not considered.

Conn. is ranked ahead without considering the secondary criteria.

like I said...better record and swept them, so impossible [except in hockeyeastland] to get ranked behind them

Today should be the start of some good playoff games, though things will really pick up in the second round. I'm especially looking forward to Amherst-Williams and Hamline-Augsburg. Anyone predicting upsets in these early rounds?

Nothing I would consider an upset so far. Only two road victories were a 3 seed beating a 2 seed (though it was a blowout by Oswego over Buff State) and a 5 over 4 seed in Bowdoin's victory over Hamilton 3-1. Plymouth State kept it a one goal game until midway through the 3rd when Norwich pulled away with two goals.

                            Conference final matchups so far:

                            NEWHL: Oswego vs Plattsburgh
                            NEHC: UMB vs Norwich
                            MIAC: Hamline vs GAC
                            WIAC: UWRF vs UWEC

Alvernia University in Reading, PA, a member of the MAC, will add a DIII women's team in Fall 2019. The Golden Wolves will presumably become the fifth MAC school in the UCHC. They will split time between a rink in Reading and one in nearby Wyomissing.

The question becomes what happens if enough MAC schools join for their own auto-bid? Do they pull out of the UCHC? My prediction if that happens is we'll see the non-MAC members of the UCHC merge with the CHC who will be losing Canton and Morrisville in 2019 when they join the NEWHL. The MAC would have Manhattanville, Stevenson, King's, LVC, Wilkes, Alvernia and whoever else from the MAC joins. There could be a CHC/UCHC with Elmira, Endicott, Utica, William Smith, Neumann, Chatham, JWU, Nichols Salem State, and Nazareth. Or there could be even more realignment.

Non-hockey MAC schools (as of now) include
                              - Messiah
                              - Hood
                              - Albright
                              - Lycoming
                              - Widener
                              - Delaware Valley
                              - DeSales
                              - Eastern
                              - Fairleigh Dickinson U - Florham

Salem State, Suffolk and Johnson & Wales will be joining the NEHC on the women’s side in 2018-19. Suffolk and JWU also join the NEHC on the men’s side as well.
