List the original MLB teams, excluding the Phillies.. Now ask which ones won the World Series before the Phillies did. The answer is all them.

        98. Denver Nuggets

Why?....They’ve always played like a bunch of little nuggets, just not the gold type. One of four teams to transfer from the ABA. This team is bad, not Nets bad, but still bad.

The Good… 3 Western Conference Finals appearances, 2 of them in the first ten seasons in their NBA existence. The first 8 seed to knock off a 1 seed in the NBA Playoffs.

The Bad….since those first ten seasons, they have only made it past the first round twice.

The Ugly.... If someone in the NBA is going to score 200 points in a game, you know it would be against the Nuggets. Those unis from the 1980s were a true test for anyone that was colorblind.
Where they play? Pepsi Center (not Coke). The arena was once double booked. On August 15, 2008, World Wrestling Entertainment booked an internationally televised event, WWE Raw, to take place at Pepsi Center on Monday, May 25, 2009. However, Denver Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke arranged a verbal agreement to book Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals between the Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers on the same date prior to the Nuggets actually earning a slot in the playoffs. Though a contract existed to hold the venue for the WWE event and only a verbal agreement granted the Nuggets the venue, Kroenke stood firm that the Nuggets game would take precedence.
WWE chairman Vince McMahon said, "Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25 date for a potential playoff game."[13]
For the WWE event, Ticketmaster refused to refund their processing fee, thereby only giving fans a partial refund.[14] The fee, however, is strictly charged by Ticketmaster alone and not WWE or KSE. On May 20, 2009, it was announced that the WWE event scheduled for Pepsi Center would be moved to Staples Center in Los Angeles, California (home of the Nuggets' Western Conference Finals opponent), and return to the Denver area for a non-televised event at the Denver Coliseum on August 7, 2009, with refunds for the original date made available at points of purchase.

Owner: Anne Walton Kroenke, heiress to the Wal-Mart throne. Wife of Stan Kroenke who had to give up his ownership rights when he bought the Rams.
Coach: Michael Malone: In his second NBA gig, was fired by the Kings for going 11-13. (actually for the Kings that’s actually pretty good)

Top Current Players: Nikola Jokic is no laughing matter. Paul Millsap and Will Barton are ok from what I hear too.

Hall of Famers…Dan Issel, David Thompson, Alex English, Dikembe Mutombo

          97. Toronto Raptors

Why?....The NBA apologized for their experiment in Canada, was a not a good idea, eh.

The Good… 1 Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2016, despite a putrid history, they are currently one of the better teams in the NBA.

The Bad….Toronto is a place where players are drafted and you develop into a hot talent you bolt Toronto the first chance you get. Not sure, ask Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter and Chris Bosh.

The Ugly....Played their first few seasons with a cartoon dinosaur on the uniform. The fans would gladly trade 100 Raptor NBA titles for one Maple Leafs Stanley Cup.

Where they play? Air Canada Centre, for now, next year it will be known as ScotiaBank Arena. I can’t knock Air Canada, I booked with them ten years ago, right after the cartel airlines started to charge for bags.

Owner: Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Owns everything sports related in Toronto with the exception of the Blue Jays.

Coach: Dwane Casey, currently in his 7th season with the Raptors.

Top Current Players: DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry

Hall of Famers…Tracy McGrady served his first three seasons in Toronto, Hakeem Olajuwon played here for a season well after his prime.

            96. Detroit Lions

            (a.k.a. Portsmouth Spartans)
Why? It was a matter of time before the team famous for being the only NFL team that went 0-16 gets its mention here.

The Good…The Lions have 4 NFL Championships, with 3 of them coming in the 1950’s. If you wore the number 20, there was a good chance you were a very good running back with the Lions

The Bad….0-16 in 2008, 24 consecutive road losses in the early 2000s, the thought that Matt Millen being a General Manger would be a good idea.

The Ugly....In 1958, the Lions traded QB Bobby Layne to Pittsburgh, Layne who was instrumental in the Lions run in the 1950’s proclaimed that the Lions wouldn’t win a championship for 50 years. Since that statement, the Lions have only one playoff win (1991).

Where they play? Ford Field. Where Quality is Job 1 to 1 playoff win in the last 60 years.

Owner: Martha Firestone Ford, wife of deceased longtime owner William Clay Ford. The Lions have been in the Ford Family since 1963.

Coach: Jim Caldwell. Started out as head coach for Wake Forest in the 1990’s, went under the wing of Tony Dungy and the Indianapolis Colts in the 1990’s. Was Head Coach in the Colts loss to the Saints in Super Bowl XLIV. Fired, brought back as an Offensive Coordinator for Baltimore helping them win Super Bowl XLVIII. Has been with the Lions since 2014.

Top Current Players: Matthew Stafford, Marvin Jones, Eric Ebron

Hall of Famers…Since the Lions have a long history there are several players enshrined in Canton. Barry Sanders, Bobby Layne, Dick LeBeau, Lem Barney, Doak Walker, and Dick “Night Train” Lane stand out.

              95. Texas Rangers

              (a.k.a. Washington Senators) version 2

Why? Owners of the second longest championship drought in Major League Baseball

The Good…won the American League Pennant in 2010 and 2011 and lost two soul crushing World Series

The Bad….1 winning season in Washington, (managed by Ted Williams), largely irrelevant until this decade

The Ugly....Had to forfeit their last game in Washington because of the fans going into the field. Senators fans were livid. Enmity came to a head at the club's last game in Washington. Thousands of fans simply walked in without paying after the security guards left early, swelling the paid attendance of 14,460 to around 25,000, while fans unfurled a banner reading "SHORT STINKS". With the Senators leading 7–5 and two outs in the top of the ninth inning, several hundred youths stormed the field, raiding it for souvenirs. One man grabbed first base and ran off with it. With no security in sight and only three bases, umpire crew chief Jim Honochick forfeited the game to the New York Yankees
I would google ‘David Clyde’ if you are bored.

Where they play? Globe Life Park in Arlington, considering how quiet the crowds are, they do act like the other national cemetary.

Owner: Rangers Baseball Express (Ray Davis is the known control person)

Manager: Jeff Banister, just finished this third season with the Rangers

Top Current Players: Joey Gallo, Nomar Mazara, and Elvis Andrus

Hall of Famers: Nolan Ryan and Ivan (Pudge) Rodriguez

                94. Washington Nationals

                (a.k.a. Montreal Expos)

Why? When your greatest season ends due to a strike

The Good…Had the best record in baseball in 1994, before a strike/lockout ended the season prematurely. The Nationals have been in the playoffs 4 out of the last 6 seasons

The Bad….The Nationals have never won the National League Pennant. Had the usual expansion pains but produced a solid team in Montreal from the late 1970’s thru the early 1990’s. After the strike the Expos started selling talent and fan interest waned. Along with the Twins, the Expos were almost contracted in 2002. The were Expos were purchased by Major League Baseball, played some of their games in San Juan before making to move to Washington in 2005.

The Ugly....Jeffrey Loria bought the Expos in 1999, made no effort to create a new stadium downtown to replace the decaying Olympic Stadium or make an effort to secure an English speaking TV contract in Montreal. Loria bought the Marlins from John Henry who bought the Red Sox, this allowed MLB to take over the Expos and relocate the team.

Where they play? Nationals Park, in operation since 2008. When it was announced the Expos were moving, construction began.

Owner: Ted Lerner, largest private landowner in Washington DC, considered to be the richest man in Maryland

Manager: Dave Martinez will be the manager for the 2018 season after not renewing Dusty Baker’s contract. Martinez being a bench coach for the Rays and Cubs. Martinez had a 15 year career in the majors.

Top Current Players: Bryce Harper, Steven Strasbourg, Max Scherzer, Ryan Zimmerman

Hall of Famers: Gary Carter, Andre Dawson, Tim Raines

                  93. Washington Capitals

Why? The only franchise in sports where their fans dread hosting a Game 7 in the playoffs.

The Good…There’s not much good but more disappointment so I’ll try. Won the Eastern Conference in 1998, did win the Patrick Division Playoff in 1990.

The Bad….Typical expansion team pains, it took until their ninth season before reaching the playoffs. There aren’t too many huge gaps in the regular season, just the playoffs that give their fans blue balls.

The Ugly....11 times this team has hosted Game 7 in the NHL Playoffs, they are 3-8*.
                  1. 1987 (Islanders) lost (Easter Epic)
                  2. 1988 (Flyers) won
                  3. 1988 (Devils) lost
                  4. 1992 (Penguins) lost
                  5. 2008 (Flyers) lost
                  6. 2009 (Rangers) won
                  7. 2009 (Penguins) lost
                  8. 2010 (Canadiens) lost
                  9. 2013 (Rangers) lost
                  10. 2015 (Islanders) won
                  11. 2017 (Penguins) lost
*=The Capitals hosted Game 5 in 1985 against the Islanders when it was a Best of Five and lost that game too.

Where they play? Capital One Arena. As in the credit card company that keeps Jennifer Garner from being irrelevant.

Owner: Ted Leonsis, owns both the Capitals and Wizards, made his fame from working with America Online, it is not believed he is the voice that says “You Got Mail!”.

Coach: Barry Trotz, more known for coaching the Predators, Trotz is in his fourth season coaching the Caps.

Top Current Players: Alex Ovechkin is the other Russian running Washington DC
Hall of Famers…Mike Gartner, Rod Langway, and Scott Stevens spent much of their career in Washington. Larry Murphy and Adam Oates played here a decent portion of their careers.

Why? Since its “rebirth” in 1992, the Senators haven’t done much of anything. This does not include the “original” Senators of the turn of the century.

                          The Good…2007 Eastern Conference Champions

The Bad….Typical expansion team pains, otherwise a middle of the pack team

The Ugly.... Very impressive 1-40 road record in its inaugural season.

Where they play? Canadian Tire Arena, where you hope you don’t go bald and hope you have a good tread.
