    lurking. not much to say....
having moved to Canton from MA last month (!) I am glad I get to see the women's team play more than I used to down south. great skills, good coaching, and kids calling the coaches to come here and play for them. Works for me

Just put this on the FB Page and wanted to add it here:

We heard it repeatedly last season that we didn't have the depth and needed to improve in that area (our roster had 27 players at the start of last season, we subsequently had many injuries, and Alex Gilmour joined the team in January). So what happens after Hayton left and some other underclassmen were told not to return this season? ..........We start with 24 players this season and two of the returning players had concussion issues. So what happens next?..........We again get hit with many injuries and fielding a complete roster of 21 players for games is not possible anymore. Very discouraging.
      GO SAINTS.

Morris told Josh Seguin (CHN) via phone that he is bringing a player up from the club hockey team. That player is supposedly NOT Mitch Eden, as Morris remarked he saw him play for the first time either Sunday/Monday.

I won't say it on the FB page, because that is apparently a designated safe space, but Morris essentially telling several players they weren't needed and didn't have a spot on the team was incredibly short sighted. Even IF he had recruits to fill those spots, I don't agree with it.

This team is going to struggle to get to 5 wins, from the looks of things. Just brutal.

Can anyone explain how a player can recover from a confirmed concussion in 24 hours? Cusinato was checked in the head failed his concussion test and was put back out on the ice for the next game. Someone is going to get seriously hurt by what is going on here. The coach must've known this but put him out there anyways. I am sure the player did not want to appear "soft". The coach obviously cares nothing about his players!

Wow! I just read all of the posts on your thread. I certainly hope the accusations of your Coach are wrong and that you all can get behind your team......a perennial favorite......for the rest of the season. It is WAY to early to have such woes. I look forward to our game on Saturday, hoping for a usual tight game between 'Gate and SLU. Keep the faith, Saints!

C'mon wrong? I am pretty sure this guy doesn't even know the rules. For instance someone might want to inform him that in 2010-11 the NCAA rules committee allowed for a team that calls a timeout to change the players on the ice. I am pretty sure this cost SLU at least a tie in regulation with Providence where he put the same gassed freshmen back on the ice after a late timeout only to get scored on seconds later. Joke.

Corriveau finally got to a specialist and is now out indefinately due to said knee and playing on said injured knee (with knowledge of the injury by the coach.) Again.......I'll qualify this by saying I am hearing it third hand from a parent/player, through a friend.
Well here is a little “fake news” courtesy of our coach and the Watertown Daily:

Things got worse when they lost two more forwards to injury over the weekend — first Carson Gicewicz in the 6-1 loss at Yale and then freshman Callum Cusinato in the 3-1 setback at Brown.

Really at Brown, must think we can’t read box scores.

Maybe the school, the coaching staff and the trainer should just come forward and admit they jeopardized a player’s health by subjecting Cusinato to succesive traumatic brain injuries.

I am sure when someone sues the school they will get the expensive opportunity to remedy this mess.

Great effort by the Saints last night. Worked hard all night; it's just next to impossible to compete when you are so beaten up with injuries. Brey must have stopped a dozen great scoring opportunities on the kill alone.

I hope to see them heal up so they can compete in the Second Season in March.

Thanks Kepler. They are giving it their all despite the awful circumstances. It's been a rough year so far with all of the mounting injuries, the young team and a ridiculous schedule. Things will turn around eventually, I just hope myself and other Saints fans have the patience to wait through it. This certainly is a difficult time for our hockey team. On the other hand, your team really has it all together right now. Good luck the rest of the season and keep it going through March.

As a Saints fan first and an ECAC fan second.... we will be pulling for Cornell to do well the rest of the way. You are highly ranked and deservedly so. Your Pairwise is impressive, so keep it going and represent well. I was lucky enough to see our game last year at Lynah as I was up visiting my son who lives on the lower tier out just to the South of Keuka Lake. Thought I might luck out this year with a Thanksgiving visit, but, the games were this weekend.

Glad to hear the boys are working hard in spite of the difficult circumstances. We had a player dressed last night from our club team, plus a kid (who I'll give credit to) has been on the roster for 4 years and only played 3 games before last night. (Steinhauser). Not even sure he was on the team this year but with only 7-8 healthy forwards and 1 D playing forward as it is..... life has been pretty difficult. We are also playing with 8 freshman........but, too bad Paul Harvey is no longer around as we would need him Kepler to tell you......... "the rest of the story!"

Cornell Coach Mike Schafer, in his post-game interview gave great credit to Goalie Brey and especially to Joe Sullivan, "a kid I'd love to coach." Very unusual for Schafer to single out opposing players. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnmpStWGldk
                          . . . still crazy after all these years. . .

If we had about 5 more Joe Sullivan's...........no one would want to play us. That kid leaves it all out on the ice. Thanks for posting. It looks like our neighbors up the road are for real. To go into Lynah and do what they did tonight means they are a serious contender for the league title. Looked to be a very tight checking game as SOG were pretty low overall for both teams.

Props to SLU for staying with it last night right to the end. While snakebitten so far this season the players seem to be able to put pressure on 'Gate to the last buzzer. Not sure Gate was going to win that game, with the Saints putting a few off the pipes. Good luck the rest of the way. You have the talent. It's just a matter of time and the team will gel. You certainly have a good goalie and guys who won't mail it in.

That being said I had multiple conversations this weekend as we saw the scores from another brutal weekend was all about is Morris going to survive. Will SLU keep him around long enough to see his vision of the rebuild through? A couple things he has going for him is SLU (administration) will not fire him on their own. This is because the university is in the process of slashing athletic budgets across the board and will not spend the money to buyout his contract and pay another head coach at the same time. Also, the SLU administration will not want to fire him before his contract is up to try to save face after the big blowback they received from hiring him in the first place.

So it all boils down to is does the Alumni step up and get the money together to buyout his contract for the school? The way things are going and the way people are already talking I don't think this course of action is completely out of the realm of happening.
The Alumni need to really step up now, and pressure the school to get Morris and the AD, who hired Morris, removed. The school needs to investigate these accusations, in a unbiased and comprehensive manner, because I’ve heard from several parents that Morris is extremely abusive to his players. I also know for a fact, this is the only reason Hayton left. The players, the coaches and all the parents know this. It’s absolutely not the way our hockey program should be run. Everything Coach Carvel was building has now gone down the toilet, and your left with a total train wreck. Winning 5 games this year, at this point, will be a real achievement ! Two summers ago this program was at a crossroads between taking this thing to another level, or falling into mediocrity. It’s pretty obvious what direction the athletic department decided to go with it. With every action there needs to be consequences, and the people responsible for this need to answer for the extremely poor decisions they’ve made, without the school covering for them any longer.
