Agreed. They have very little finishing talent too.

I'll admit it's hard to remain optimistic after last night's performance. I can't explain the vast difference between the team that played Tuesday at Princeton and the team that showed up last night. Is it home ice? Not likely since they did play very well against Brown/Yale.

Tuesday their passes were crisp and deliberate... last night they had trouble connecting or were putting soft passes into open ice that Harvard was getting to first.

Tuesday they clearly played as a team... last night it appeared a few guys went freelance (no need to mention names).

Tuesday Shortridge was a wall... last night he struggled finding the puck (not entirely his fault).

Ok, so what does all this mean? Maybe they should only play on Tuesday's!

Seriously, the differences between the two nights are astounding. If I can see these differences I'm sure the staff can as well. Hopefully they're working on the consistency as that seems to be our biggest problem.

I get the talent aspect and acknowledge that we don't have any true snipers (or apparently finishers), but we've won with less before. A hard working, lunch pail team can be just as successful as a roster full of superstars.

Tonight is 2 points we desperately need. It will be interesting to see how they respond after last night. There simply isn't much, if any, room left for bad nights.

Cannot continue to outshoot teams and lose. Need goalie to win one for us. It can't be that the last 4-5 losses where we outshot team our shots are all meaningless and the opponents are deadly. A goalie makes a coach look smart. Remember prior goalies?
I think freshman goalie might have hard time adjusting to full time dormitory and class including hockey. However we have a sophomore goalie
When this team gets behind they play a different game....passes do not connect etc. Donato might be the best in both HE and ECAC. Harvard team could skate..lots of skill reminded me of BU

Skating to a scoreless tie against a team as bad a Dartmouth is just awful. Even though Quinnipiac controlled the game they have no one to finish pucks.

125 minutes of hockey, 86 Shots on goal, 2 goals to show for it. They’re either shooting into the Goalies’ chest, or missing the net by 3 feet. I thought there were passing issues, but tonight I saw as much inabilities to receive the pass as I did poor or weak passes.

Once again referee stops play for an injured player and then invents a 5 minute major. 5 mins for interference when both players are going after the Puck!

I’m not suggesting that the referees were the reasons for the poor outcomes. Just an ugly weekend.

Seriously, tying a game against a 2-4-1 Dartmouth team when Quinnipiac sits at 3-5-1.....manage the expectations. ECAC conference games are all tough.

Agreed. I have been hoping they could turn things around and have a decent season with a better than 500 record. Now I am just hoping they can get out of the bottom 4 in the ECAC and can stay there.

I just watched the replay of the hit. First off, I hope the kid is ok because nobody wants to see kids get hurt.

While it was a crushing blow, I'm not sure it was a bad hit. The kid had the puck, was against the boards, and turned to maintain possession. Yes, Mick got him in the numbers, but as I said it looked like he was turning to stay with the puck, and Coppola said the same thing. It happened right in front of the ref and his arm never even twitched. I think what may have happened is that as play continued, Mick circled around and then drilled another kid by the Dartmouth bench just before the little scrum started. As was explained in the broadcast, linesmen can call major penalties which is what I assume happened here because neither ref threw up an arm after either hit. If it was a vicious, major-worthy hit, why was it called interference and not roughing, boarding, or contact from behind?

As it turns out, the major didn't end up being a factor in the outcome, other than maybe taking away 5 minutes of 5 on 5 time. The 2 interference calls on Smith later in the period were both questionable, and linesman Piti blew numerous offsides calls all night. Plus there were two blatant too-many-men by Dartmouth. After the game, it looked like Piti and Rand exchanged words, and Rand wanted the attention of ref Mullen for some reason. Mullen, way down in the corner, just pointed to the locker room as if to say "get out". No, the refs were not the reason we didn't win, but it was another typical poor ECAC officiating performance.

This....QU still has some really good goaltenders they have to face in Jake Kielly twice, Colton Point, Madsen, Cornell and union goaltenders. I'm not optimistic they will just magically start scoring goals.
