I take it that you weren't around when Quinnipiac beat Cornell 10-0 in the 2013 ECAC Quarterfinals.

Fun stat: in the two routs the two teams combined in the second periods for a total of 13 goals: the equivalent pace of one 19.5 goal game.

The night after that game, Cornell was within 64 seconds of winning the series.

Oh, Shortridge is going to be better OR Cornell is NOT going to be the #2 team in the country.....oh, Cornell only bat Quinnipiac 2 times by 1 goal each time. And tonight, they put their manhood on the line and all we fans saw was diaper rash and dirty drawers on the ice. Quinnipiac players, coaches and fans were schooled on how good teams play and how bad teams play....no excuses, you do not belong on the same ice, the same arena, the same ethos as Cornell, this year. end of season, lose it respectable tomorrow and you can go home and not think what a waste of a hockey season this was. I am looking forward to the QUAlum blog, he usually is pretty good, but they need new blood and some muscle on D. no one is afraid to face the bobcats at all and it showed. this was the worst D1 beat-down I have seen in post season play and it was a beat down full of bad blood, from years of bobcat gloating.

You must have missed the 11-0 loss QU suffered in Game 1 of the 2008 ECAC QF against Harvard.

They then came back to force Game 3, and were a disputed call from winning the entire series.

We've had a Jekyll & Hyde season so this really shouldn't be suprising. While I never envisioned that beatdown, I knew it was going to be a struggle. If it didn't get into their heads, then tonight will be different. If...

Also, kudos to Q for not getting frustrated and going headhunting. That game situation is brutally embarrassing and all too often guys lose their heads. I salute the coaching staff and players of Q for keeping perspective that 9-1 and 2-1 are the same. We'll see a much better game tomorrow.
I agree. As frustrating as that ****show was, it was nice to see them keep their heads (not sure what that deal was at the end of the 2nd).

For what it's worth, kudos to Mayanja for standing in last night. Heck of a way to get you first collegiate minutes. Not sure what the deal with Shortridge is but it's not good. Petruzelli will need to have his absolute best performance tonight.

And thanks to Cornell for providing the free feed. Quality was top notch and even the announcers weren't bad. Not having to pay to see that mess was the only bright spot of my evening.

As for tonight, all I can say is "welcome to a brand new day".

Mark, have you ever been to Cornell? Such a fun barn to go to as a visiting fan -- the playoff series 11 or 12 years ago was my favorite weekend as a student at QU, and not just because we won. The experience of going to Lynah Rink is something every college hockey fan should experience at some point.

Have not had the pleasure yet. Up until a month ago I would have been able to go this weekend but things at work changed and I couldn't get the time off. Someday I'll get there. Might try to do the central NY road trip next season and take in 'Gate's new barn as well.

Game plan for tonight is pretty simple: win or go home.

Win, lose, or draw, they need to play hard and leave it all on the ice.

Story of our season... lack of scoring. A much better effort than last night but no rubber in the twine doesn't win many games.

Congrats and thanks to the seniors. Best of luck in whatever your futures hold.

Tonight was the type of game I think everyone expected last night as well. Quinnipiac had a jump in their step and caused a lot of turnovers in the Cornell end. But there were very few 2nd chance opportunities, and Galajda was calm and collected in net. Cornell, as has been the case all season, was opportunistic. Cornell being able to kill off 2 five-minute majors was remarkable. Looking back, it’s hard to believe that in 4 games this season, Cornell held Quinnipiac to a total of 2 goals.

As a Cornell fan I wanted no part of Quinnipiac in this series, and last night’s bizarre game aside, I still think the Bobcats were one of the tougher teams for Cornell to deal with this year. I’m sure glad we were able to hang-on tonight and avoid a game 3.

No reason to believe this season was anything but an aberration for your program, as it seems like you guys have some talented recruits coming in and will be back in the hunt next year.

The reason Shortridge didn't play was due to injury. Happened in the Clarkson game from what I was told.
