Did you not like The Man in the High Castle?

Wrong. Bladerunner has nothing to do with PKD.

It is true that there are movies that are too smart for most morons, but BR '49 is not among them.

If you hate the original BR you probably are a moron but, again, that has nothing to do with PKD. It just means you lack the imagination to entertain ideas not connected with 'splosions.

Happily, Michael Bay is there for you.

    To The Bone:

An anorexic patient goes on a journey of self-discovery after being enrolled in a doctor's unconventional program.

It was partially made by, and with, people with eating disorders. I thought it was well done, with minimal cheese. Some very frank moments in dialogue and images/scenes. Definitely helps one understand a person's thinking when going through with this. Gave it a watch due to Keanu being in it, and IMO he doesn't really take current roles lightly; it appears to me he takes roles that actually contribute to a message/cause, rather than a paycheck (yes, even John Wick, considering the character's actual motives).

    Worth a watch.

I was going to see Mother this weekend, but apparently it's already out of theaters around me.

Mookie just returned from seeing “24 hours to live”

Very good. Will have to see in the states when Mookie is there if it is out in Boston (believe starting limited release beginning of dec). Locals cut out a sex scene in the beginning (dammit). Twisted ending too. Interesting locations - not Vancouver

Did Mookie mention he found it to be very good?

    Godzilla (2014 Cranston)

Interesting take on the story. FTR, Cranston was not needed. That was a name-grab. It was okay, worth a watch if you're a Gojira fan . Basic popcorn movie, as expected.

I was looking at the thread title and remembered I saw a trailer for Thor: Ragnarok the other day. It looked horrible.

Based on what I've seen of the trailers and know of the film it is likely to be the best Marvel Film yet. Hands down until we have Thanos in the next Avengers movie this one will have the best villain. And Hulk in this film is going to be awesome.

The trailer makes it look awful from a production standpoint; can't speak to the plot. As in mediocre CGI/ green screen effects/ set design/ etc. Probably will still see it at some point, but not one we're going to spend money on a babysitter to see in a theater.

To each his own I guess. The effects look stellar to me. The destruction of Asgard is going to be epic.

Honest-to-God, when I saw the trailer the first time I thought it was a spoof movie.

I am going to get rid of my copy of Requiem For A Dream. I've seen it once, the images have stayed with me, and I can't bear to see it again.

Re: Movies! The Last Jedi: Ragnarok

I'm a sucker for documentaries, so I can't believe I missed this one when it was released a couple of years ago. 1971, a documentary about the break-in and theft of records from the FBI office in Media, PA, is spectacular. The movie recounts the planning that went into the break-in, the disclosure of the records to the media, the intense (and comical) FBI search for the burglars that followed, and the fallout from disclosure of the contents of the records documenting illegal FBI activities. There is a book out there about the events, but there is just something about seeing the people on the screen, talking about their deeds, that makes it more interesting.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

I saw It again tonight. Fifth time for me. What a wonderful story. Muschietti really makes you care about those kids. Oh those kids. I so wish the Academy Awards gave a statue for best ensemble.

Despite it being a weeknight and the film in it's eighth week of release it still drew 30% of theater capacity. One of the trailers that ran before the movie was for Blade Runner - which debuted 10/6 and is already out of local theaters.
