Any idea which end Yale will shoot at to begin the Friday game. Just checked the ticket website, a good amount of tickets sold.
No snow on the ground just frigid temps! Not sure about the shooting at goal situation! However, when BG is at home they shoot twice (1 & 3rd) at the net by the entrance as the HOME team.

Well you can say the Rocky Mountain High UD trip two weekends ago carried over at least to last night’s game as the BG beats a very talented UNH team 3-1. Most impressive is holding a 2-1 then 3-1 lead for a majority of the game without altering their game....playing the right and smart way. I thought UNH was slightly the better team last night with Buffalo in net being the difference. BG’s PP improved acrossed the board from entries, puck movement, traffic and pucks on net with all three goals being of that variety in Baker and Foreman. I also think BG learned tp play it more simple and direct especially with a lead, leading to way less careless turnovers. Shoup on D had his best game of the year and getting back to his form. He was quick and decisive with a great stick. Let’s carry this big thing called MO tonight against a very good and batttle- tested UMD squad tonight . It should be noted they they will be missing 5 guys who are at World Jrs. But they did not have a problem last night parting Yale 5-0...when you are good and established program like UMD, this scenario creates opportunities and competition which is one of the reasons why they are good. Go BIG GREEN!

Apoears that Big Green has caught DU and UNH at the right time, as both of those teams were way, way overrated early in the season, and are now in respective nosedives. Watched a less than talented Merrimack team dispatch DU by simply playing hard and smart at Magness Arena last night. Good luck against the Bull Dogs tonight. I suspect that Ylae will easily trounce UNH in the opener.

Mucho Gracias Snively65! Magness is quite the experience but I guess that’s the difference between big- time hockey vs Thompson. You might be right in BG’s timing in these W’s but one thing is for sure and clear, they are definitely playing better. Safe travels and good luck against Yale and rest of the season.

Easily trounce? If they (Yale) play like they did yesterday and UNH gets their collective stuff together...well I guess we will find out. But I will def be humbled if we get....trounced.

Good luck Big Green against MinnyD. Even without their 5 players they looked good. Buffalo will need another great game...

Nice continuation of some good play tonight. you could tell that Buffalo was not comfortable with the shoot out format, barely left the crease. With the wins and ties today, the ECAC is starting to reclaim some respectability.

You are spot on as I was thinking the very same thing...Buffalo was not even close to saving those two Shoot Out shots as there were plenty of net given up. However we was very good during the game. Good catch!

The stellar and much cleaner play keeps on as BG ties UMD in a very scintillating game. It was very hard fought physical but clean game with the both goalies outstanding. So now that the BG has put together 4 straight games of quality efforts and minimum mistakes their confidence must be booming but let’s not get too comfortable. It’s the “big”lines that scored for BG last night as Warpecha/Kilistof/Michalowski and Graber/Forman/Sellar tallies. The other more skilled lines while having quality chances need to produce. The PP again are getting quality looks leading to Grade A chances but just not finding the back of the net...quite disconcerting as special differential could very be the difference down the stretch of ECAC play. The treat D is also much better and tighter as they gave up very few odd man rushes, deriving from less turnovers and better decision making on D pinches. The D core played very well overall yesterday with no major faults although Han must be a bit better in his D zone. It is refreshing as upperclassmen D of Shoup and Rymsha has rediscovered their game which is huge. Buffalo has strung together some very good games against quality offensive opponents. While this game officially goes in the book as a TIE UMD were declared the winners of the Ledyard as they won the shoot out. BIG Green, let’s ride this wave of MOMENTUM to ECAC as you have every right to start feeling good about yourselves after your truly inspired play.

A BG congrats to MN Duluth as they win the 29th Annual Ledyard Classic in a shoot out. The game vs BG was a virtual classic itself. Also and big thanks to UNH and Yale as well for bringing their teams in in sub zero temp conditions.

Happy New Year to all. Be safe!

Congrats to Dartmouth for having a great showing in their own tournament. Glad to have visited Thompson Arena despite our showing. Good luck the rest of the way and i just have to hit the Salt Hill Pub soon. Here's to a great 2018 for all...

It's Game Day/weekend! Can the BG carry the wave of momentum into to ECAC play, especially when it counts more. If they can play that more tighter, cleaner, and simpler game, the BG will fare well. They need their so called skilled forward lines to produce on 5 on 5 play and also capitalize on their PP thus winning the special teams differential. This is their recipe for winning to start the New Year! Go BIG Green and have fun and play with that "SWAG" you showed in the last four games.

Can you say frustrated/frustration? That is aptly how you would describe last night's 4-1 loss to Union from a coach's, player, and fan point of view! The BG can out flying with energy getting the better of the play at the start when the ref inexplicably blows the whistle dead on a would be Forman goal. To be fair, the ref was on the other side of the play/puck and believed Kupsky who stood frozen to make it more believable that he had it in his possession. Yes the right call was made although it was a bad call. Of course not more than a couple minutes later Union converts on a late trailer 3 on 2 to open the scoring. Then shortly after, on a rather harmless play, Campolieto capitalizes by taking the puck and open ice to bury a shot from the right circle. We would never know how the outcome would have played out if the BG gets that 1-0 lead...most teams play better with the lead especially the first early in the game. However, it should be noted that BG had the just over 2 periods of play to counter. Union took over play in the second although both teams did not score. The play was pretty even in the third.

In summation, the BG clearly could not overcome the goal that was called back. They reverted back to the old BG with their PP...bluntly awesome and if you ask them they would tell you the same. Terrible entries and puck retrievals led to their demise; when they did get a glimpse of zone time a bad decision/play ended with a puck clearance out of the zone. Though unspectacular, Kupsky was solid in holding off the BG. Let's put this in the rear view mirror and win tonight!

UNH fans feel the same way about that first "goal" we thought we scored in our game with you guys last week; any idea about what/ why that was called back? No matter. You guys should be able to have a good game with RPI. Here's hoping we can do the same with Brown...

Wow! Either coaches probably did not like the optics of this game, from the BG blowing a 4-1 lead to RPI storming back to take 5-4 lead late in the game only to have BG score a late goal (from the goal line and boards) with an EA and to win it in OT on a harmless throw at the net wrister from the point, tipped in in by a forward in the high slot. Yes this was the proverbial roller coaster game of events. A W is a W and BG is not giving it back. Now the positives: the tree line of Graber/Sellar/Forman continues to produce using their skill and reach and getting major minutes. The Kalk/Baker/Jasiek looked dangerous with speed and possession through the neutral zone into the O zone. On D Shoup has definitely stepped up his game utilizing his N/S speed while Yau continues his steady all around play. The PP reversed their woes from the last game with great entries and leading to patient possession and great 10 bell looks, culminating with a nifty through the slot (through two set of D's sticks and also the goalie's paddle) in Jasiek setting up Kalk's one-timer from the off wing and weak side. The goaltending was weak on both sides although when Perry came in for Marshall, he did stabilize RPI and that's when they started their comeback. All in all, good rebound game from Friday night and way to perserver and not give up, blowing 3 goal lead to rally and get that much needed W in ECAC play.
