I get it. But that's kind of the point. Like the one commenter said, "Everyone on that show is a stereotype." So what?

      Yeah, it's bizarre.

        Yeah, it's bizarre.
My bet is that the production company is paying for the articles directly, basically an advertisement disguised as an article, only less heavy handed than the ones about Store X's new offerings and all the benefits you stand to gain by using it.

I suspect you're right. Though, Slate fires out a few of these articles a month (maybe every week). I just don't pay attention to them. This caught my eye because of The Simpsons tie-in.

In fact, I think it's hilarious that the guy who made the documentary suggests that the writers make him own the Kwik-E-Mart.

            errrrrrr.... he does. Pretty clearly.

Apu was fired from the Kwik-E Mart in one episode. The store is corporate owned.

In another episode they had him and his brother owning it 50:50. I think this was also mentioned in one of the Slate comments.

Oh yeah, that's right. It's not like the show has ever tried for to keep details of the city straight from week to week.

That seems to happen a lot when the writing staffs change.

Peggy's history on King of the Hill got changed a couple times.

Sure, but the Simpsons have taken shots at themselves over the years for inconsistencies in jobs and location of items. The contents of the Simpsons' basement are a testament to that, as are one-liners about how the scenery seems to change just for the sake of a joke. Sometimes the power plant is miles away from Homer's house, other times he can see the parking lot outside his backyard. The staff plays with those sorts of details without heed of past episodes - because it's all part of the joke.

My parents would send my sister and I to St. Peter for 1-2 weeks a summer for about 4 years to visit my dad's parents. I loved the trip for several reasons, but having to watch Lawrence Welk every (Sunday?) was just unbearable.

Finished up the first two seasons of Wanted on Netflix, pretty solid. It's an Australian show about two women on the run from dirty cops, pretty sure it's completely unrealistic but that really doesn't matter as the characters draw you in. Only 6 eps per season so easily bingeable.

Sounds like an updated version of Renegade...and we dont need that cause the original was AMAZING!!

Gosh I guess I vaguely remember that show, but not enough to draw a comparison. Based on reading about it, yeah they sound similar but I can't get past the Lorenzo Lamas thing. Wanted is very well done. The main character also wrote it with her husband, and her description of it is an asexual love story. Which I just can't picture for Renegade.
