But let's be real...There are 40 some other teams and only two alaskan teams...the day one of us wins something big will be the day I transfer to UAA

Can't find the Winter Olympics thread, if there is one, but Russia has been barred due to the doping scandal. All athletes who do compete must do so neutrally. I have no idea what this means for the hockey team, as the couple articles I read had more to do with individuals.

And the KHL probably will prohibit their contracted players from participating.

7th place last 2 Olympics and the Worlds this year. Wrong number.
Yeah the Czechs have been pretty garbage since ~2014. Favorites are, in order:
1. Sweden.
With the KHL out the Swedes have the best league and and a deep base to draw from.
2. Canada.
I mean, it's Canada. The Spengler Cup team could probably win this. For them it's just a matter of building a good team.
3. Switzerland.
Call me crazy but don't be shocked if the Swiss win this thing or at least medal. The Swiss League is low key one of the best leagues in Europe and they've put a strong emphasis on player development. They've done well in World Championships and with other countries missing players and the Russians out...
