6-0 Leafs over Habs. Sixth win in a row on the night where the Original Six teams were honored at the Bell Centre. 2 goals from Auston in his return from injury.

I know the feeling. When I was a soccer goalie, we were beating a team about 6-0 at half, and my coach asked me if I wanted to play a different position for fun. Our striker and I switched positions, and with about 2-3 minutes left in the game, I connected on a beauty and scored. I decided to do the airplane landing on my way to the corner flag. The ref didn't care too much for it, and I got a yellow card and a stern lecture. But...it was worth it.

I think I remember driving through western Ontario in my youth and seeing a sign on a lake west of Kenora stating that a stanley cup game had been played on that pond.

                Was I high? Possible.

Kenora (who are adorable) won the Cup in the big city of Montreal. There is a plaque commemorating them, but it is for the team, not a location.

One of the most fun teams to ever win the cup, along with:

Montreal Wanderers (the team they beat)
Seattle Metropolitans (the first American champion)
Montreal Shamrocks (as in, we're Irish, f-ck you, French)
Montreal Victorias (lots of teams named after that Queen)
Ottawa Silver Seven (it is a travesty the reboot team is not the Silver Six)
                      Toronto St. Pats

                      honorable mention:

Portland Rosebuds (lost the finals, but the first American Cup challenger)

If Seattle and Portland ever join the NHL, (which if either does they should do together), I hope it will be as the Metropolitans and the Rosebuds. For that matter the Canucks, always a horrid name, should be renamed the Billionaires.

                            But not this tweet:

@jonathonj1970: Fun Fact: The history of the @NHL, founded 100 years ago today, can be tracked through five players.

Jaromir Jagr played against Guy Lafleur, who played against Gordie Howe, who played against Dit Clapper, who played with/against Cy Denneny, who played on opening night. #NHL100 https://twitter.com/jonathonj1970/st...448448/photo/1
