Congrats to SNC. I have been fortunate enough to see you over the years, and you’ve always been a good opponent.

    See you next year! 😜

Are Lou/Luke related to hall of fame goaltender Mike Karakas?

Yes, his Uncle, Mike Karakas is one of four goalie playing Karakas brothers from Eveleth, MN. The others are Tom, George, and Luke(Lou’s Father)

SNC has played in every even-year National Championship game since 2004.

Every freshman class since 2000 has played in at least one National Championship game.

                  Re: SNC 2017-18 Season Thread

Finally have recuperated from the LONG drive home from Lake Placid. What a weekend! Was thinking about and discussing on the trip home, Tim Coghlin has to be the best coach in Division III hockey history. I'm sure the Middlebury people will get their undies in a bunch about that line of thinking, but I remember when I first started going to games 25 years ago and St. Norbert was dressing in a semi trailer while playing in an awful community rink. To go from those days to this nothing compares in my mind. I don't think those Middlebury kids ever had to dress in a trailer. There's also a lot more schools who put more money into hockey than even 15 years ago when Middlebury was ruling the roost, which makes recruiting more competitive. Middlebury was also sliding at the end for Beaney and I can't see Coghlin ever letting it go like that on his watch. I'll hang up and listen.

Well, before the semi trailer the players were lugging their equipment back and forth every day between lockers at Schuldes Sports Center and the same crappy community rink for practice and games.

Not sure if his genius is on the ice, or recruiting better players than every other school. He's able to lure more recruits from the NAHL (and even the USHL) than anyone else. I remember when SNC stood for "Still No Championships," but I think all of those posters have long since evaporated from this board.

Makes sense to me. The NAHL is the second tier of Junior hockey in the United States and D3 is the second tier of NCAA hockey. Plus, geographically the NAHL makes sense for most western region teams.

And this isn’t to slight any other school, but it doesn’t hurt that SNC is a good school academically. Especially for international business and education...

One more stat from Dan Lukes:
In their last 20 overtime games, going back to the late 2011 - 2012 season, SNC has allowed just one goal over 133 minutes/8 seconds of action.....record is 10 - 1 - 9 in those 20 games...
                            pretty amazing stuff there....

                            SNC Women:
                            O'Brien Cup Champions: 2013.

If Utica hadn't been screwed by the selection fiasco, they'd have won the whole thing.
