A great coach knows the sport so well that he continuously adapts his "system" to the skills of the players he has right now.

Over time, he might prefer to recruit a collection of certain "types" but you always have to adjust even then.

Three examples that come to mind are Belichick, Popovich, and Auriemma (and way before them, Wooden). All of them win playing all sorts of different styles no matter what their personnel because they know how to mesh together whatever talent they have on hand to produce a true team effort. They all emphasize the best talents and find ways to cover up deficiencies through astute team play.

A great coach not only adapts the system, but recognizes the talents (or potential talents) the players have, and gets that out of them to better the team. One person that really comes to mind is Paul Riley, who coaches women's soccer. The last year of the WNY Flash, they were picked last, he got some amazing talents out of deadly strikers, and ended up winning the championship.

Anyone else think Jared Wilson looks a little bit like a young Christopher Walken?

Five o'clock? That's an odd time to start a game.

It's not like Saint Mary's is facing a long bus ride back to Canada immediately after the game. They'll be staying in the States to play Quinnipiac on Sunday.

Anyone know the reason for the decision to start the game at five?

Have a favorable showing on at least the first 8 games, and then reconsideration will come as we head into the last 14 in 2018. No more of this "pick a month for a meltdown" stuff we had under the last dude.
I get your point but I’ld be more than happy if the Team averaged 4 wins a month.

Probably because they play Q @ 4pm Sunday.

Just open the stream and let it go for the next 28 hours. No turning on/off required.

Skate with the Engineers is after the game. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to wrap up the game early so the children can meet the team and get autographs at a halfway decent hour.
