That was the toughest game on our first line this year and it's not really close, 5x5 they were trying to get chances but your defense played extremely hard. Very physical with Rempal and took his time and space away, as your younger guys get adjusted to things you'll continue to improve as the season goes along. Clarkson has one of the best defenses and goalie in the country and are hard to breakdown so the pressure you put on in the 3rd made things very uneasy. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Reminds me a great deal of last year where we suffered our first ECAC loss against Clarkson. In that game, Clarkson also took away our time and space by covering our forwards regardless of where they were on the ice but that left our defensemen opened. In the third period we got our blue line going on offense. I wish we had earlier. Clarkson has an outstanding team. Its going to be a crazy and wild time in the ECAC this year. Colgate has not lost in their last 5. Too many good coaches to discount any team. If we could develope some snippers. From here on every ECAC point is precious. There are 4 up for grabs next weekend.

Not taking anything away from Clarkson. They are the real thing and destined for Lake Placid if they keep playing the way they are.

That being said, IMO, that might have been Hansons best game. He stopped a lot of Grade A's. He never seemed to be out of position. At full strength, he stopped all 21 shots. The first Clarkson score was a redirect but IMO a high stick and should not have been counted. One of our defensemen screen another shot plus Clarkson is **** good and every puck possession was a battle.

        Last year
Nick DeSimone had career 15 goals and 48 points (.44pts/game)
Jeff Taylor had career 18 goals and 92 points (.62 pts/game)
Last year when our forwards were being doubled up these two blasted away from the point and screens, tips and redirects got us goals.

In College Hockey right now 4 of the top 10 defences are ECAC teams including the top 3. Once again outstanding goalies abound as do outstanding defences and coaches. We cannot compete just by having the best defence. Look at all those great defensive teams from Yale. It will only take you so far.

We need offence from our blue line to take the pressure off of our forwards. We need to turn those 8 defenders into snipers. How about this week, 2 extra hours of practice each day where the "D" take target practice from the point. 500 shots a day with a blindfold on and a tin can tied to the pipe. We also need one on one coaching for Vas Kolias. IMO, if he could develop a shot, he would be an absolute terror !!!

We also have to fix the PK and PP. I have no idea how to do this. I will speak to the hockey gods.

We are exceeding my expectations for a rebuilding year and nothing has shaken my belief that our coaches are the best in College Hockey. I am just seeing the potential for us to have offensive depth for the first time since 2014. Three lines scored against St Lawrence.

Getting our "D" more involved in the offence will put a lot more pressure on Hanson to "defend the Keep" but I think he is up to it.

          ^This!!!!
How many of those drop passes almost all the way back to the dot on the breakout??? Stops all the momentum your forwards may have to help them carry the puck into the offensive zone. A silly play IMO... (maybe that's why I'm not a coach )

Princeton can score. I looked at some of the highlights of Princeton vs Cornell. Princeton was up 4-2 having scored 3 in the first period. This was not a fluke. Their top two lines can bury the puck.

Veronneau, Kuffner and Cressey, if they were on the same line, would be one of the tops in the ECAC. We need to come out flying ready to bury the puck.

This was the Princeton lineup against Colgate. Same both nights. Not terribly big like last year. Swapping heavies for speed. Lots of Canadians. This could end up as one of the highest scoring teams in the ECAC.

Two VERY tough games this week.. and two very different teams..
Princeton will skate away from almost everybody - they are fast - we saw that in the last game last year and a year more mature.
The Q is bigger and always tough whether home or away..
The guys need to come out fast, eliminate those passes to nobody in particular, and get ahead... and then NOT try to sit on it..
They need to take advantage of any man-up situations and stay out of the box themselves..

In the last 18 matchups with Princeton, we are 16-0-2. We have not lost to Princeton since 2010. We have not lost to Princeton in Schenectady since 2008, 22 matches ago.

In the past 5 games, our scoring is dropping 1 point per game.

Princeton isn't the same team this year as they have been in the past - constructed with more speed - need to slow them down or match them
stride for stride to keep that streak alive..

I could easily make a point about the competition being better as that streak moved along.. RIT (6) vs CLarkson (2)
but the reality is it had more to do with the specialty teams.. Power play has looked worse each game and the PK
was pretty bad in that last one too..

Better passing on the PP and actually using their speed on the PK will help..

The first Clarkson player to start shoving away at a Union player was freshman forward Jack Jacome, who is 5-foot-7, 160 pounds. Jacome’s target was the tallest Union player on the ice at the time, 6-foot-5, 205-pounder Jack Adams.

Jacome comes to Clarkson with impressive credentials. Last year with the Georgetown Raiders, he scored 34 goals with 57 assists in 53 games and was named the top forward out of all 132 Canadian junior hockey teams.
