Not a biggie if it changes or not, but I can't imagine it would as I think this one's baked. I find it odd that the Pontiff doesn't have a super substantial process to evaluate that change - i.e., bringing together of scholars and religious representatives. But I suppose then he wouldn't be the Pope.

I think you have to envision a comma after "Lead us" - it reads a bit better. Then, it's more like asking God to show the sinner a path that doesn't lead to sin, whereas humans would naturally be inclined to lead ourselves down the wrong path.

The French translation is passive voice -- "let us not be led into temptation." Or simply "protect us from temptation" to save the meter.
I do remember it seeming weird to me when I was about 12 that we had to beg God not to f-ck with our heads. I mean, what, the dude was a jokester?
