Alright. So there's a high correlation between gun deaths and lax gun laws. Are we agreed then? It appears there's also a correlation between violent crime rates and lax gun laws. Shall we continue?

I believe this dad when he says his kid didn't learn it at home. I also believe that the killer with the car from Saturday didn't learn this **** from his mother.
Most people who join this stuff have the same profile as folks who join a cult. They need a place to belong, the people who are recruiting them not only tell them they belong but then tell them others aren't good enough.

Was public opinion changed for the better? Did we get rid of the neo-nazi movement or white supremacy movement in this country, or even damage it in the least?

Because personally I think the answer was a pretty resounding "no." An innocent girl got killed. Some dip**** from Ohio who was apparently at least modestly serviceable and employable ruined his own life while still in his twenties. Innocent people were maimed. Families were devastated. A bunch of white supremacists got days worth of national and international publicity for a parade that likely would not have been reported outside of Virginia if everyone had ignored them.

But I'm willing to be persuaded that it was a big weekend for truth, justice and the American Way, if someone wants to take a shot at it.
The point isn't always to change the mind of a twisted person. Like any cult member, they will cling to their beliefs. The bigger question is do the citizens of this country agree or object to this belief. Was public opinion changed for the better? I would argue yes. We have a President who didn't denounce their beliefs, who courted them, and has numerous 'advisers' who do believe this stuff. He just now, days later came out to half heartedly say something, even with a death involved. The political party in power has carefully danced around not offending the President or the lowest of his supporters. If they had spoken before IMHO this would not have come to what it has. Now we have outright violence. If nothing else it has finally stimulated the vociferous denouncement of this mentality by most of the political mouthpieces.
The WS got press for something but most of the reaction (including Right politicians and community leaders) has been to condemn the actions. Kind of interesting to see the split between the political leaders, community and the hard right media. Seems like the sheople who will believe anything are still following and believing the blame game but most decent people have started to figure out this is not what they signed up for.

Boston has this plan, always. I don't think it is a good idea to let them go toe to toe. This past weekend they let the WS go out into the counter protesters. That was just plain stupid.

Sorry, but in this country you actually do have to sit and listen to people spew the most vile, bigoted, awful statements their small minds can formulate. Or you can walk away. But if they want to say it, they get to say it.
No, it was out of hand before but people were taking your approach- ignore it, they can't possibly do bad things if you don't give them traction until- oops they really were doing awful things. We only acknowledged them after he annexed Austria, started rounding people up in huge numbers, etc. How do you think he managed to convince the population that it was a good idea? DO you think nothing bad happened to the undesirables and then suddenly he shipped them to camps? Time to look a little deeper into history.

What if I told you that there was a period after WWI and before WWII where Hitler didn't just suddenly become powerful and do all these things, he started off as a failed artist and the right wing faction was just sorta seen as a fringe group. And people just sat around and "ignored them" like you suggest. How'd that end up?

And yeah let's just wait around until these imbeciles here become more powerful and start rounding up (minority group). Sounds brilliant like most of your posts of late.

Uh, you may want to check your history.

Hitler was given power in Jan '33. Which then turned into the elimination of all of his political rivals. In June '34- the Night of the Long Knives- were many people were killed- including Hitler's close rivals. In this time frame, Jews were then removed from businesses, many laws were passed to repress the crap out of everyone not an arian.

Before '33, brownshirts roamed around and intimidated and beat up anyone they didn't like- jews, homosexuals, gypsies, etc.

It wasn't until '38 that Hitler annexed Austria, which THEN led to what you think.

The kind of "rallies" we are seeing now happened in the early 30s. Thankfully, as I pointed out before, the rest of the public reacted like the 1934 Nazi rally in London- where they were equally stood up to. And while much of the media sided with the thugs, the general movement stopped in england.

But it DID take people to stand up directly to these morons. They are too dumb to understand logic and reason. They'd rather blame someone else for them being lazy and stupid.

That's what the Charlottesville Police Chief said in a press conference.

They (Nazis) got what they wanted. Why else would they show up with shields and broken pool cues?

Heck, even a simple read of The Rise and The Fall of the Third Reich would've shown that it was a lot more than just Hitler annexing Austria. The ****ed up things the Nazis in the early 30's are pretty appalling.
