ASU guy here. First, congrats on your win over BC. It was a great game. Second, as I said here before, I absolutely love your fans. During the BC game they brought such great energy. Then a handful of folks cheered with our student section, called the 942 Crew. It was fun to see them show our students some new chants that I'm sure will be appearing at our games these coming weekends. I'm thrilled we get a chance to compete with you tomorrow for the Championship. manure or others, I moved over to section 11, last row. Better angle to watch the game. Anyway, congrats and thanks!

Kero looked pretty good tonight. Some lucky bounces for tech, a crazy penalty shot call, and a lot of penalties called both ways. Tech was not outstanding IMO, but a win's a win, they don't ask you how.

I stayed for the ASU/NMU game and I was surprised how great the ASU fans were. As a Yooper I was hanging out with some NMU guys, but ASU looked **** good. Be a fun game tomorrow!!!

I don’t think it cost Tech (probably was to their benefit on balance) but that was the worst reffing I’ve ever seen. Those guys would be laughed out of a Mites game if they tried to find work in Michigan. They had no idea what the rules are for icing, interference, offsides, etc. Embarrassing that they were given college games to ref without ever seeing ice hockey before.
Huskies are very intelligent and trainable. Huskies make an excellent jogging companion, as long as it is not too hot. Grooming is minimal; bathing is normally unnecessary.

Looks like it was one ref and one linesman from the BC-Tech game. I thought that crew was bad so not surprising to hear what you're saying.

Players can't be coddled all the time either. Man up, do your job as a player to the best of your ability. You can't take night's off on game day.

Well I beg to differ. Those players tried incredibly hard! They busted their butt the whole time down there, fought thru the flu and I give them a ton of credit for how hard they worked. Second, if you watch coach York, which I did, he never gets too animated on the bench, mostly he's very even keeled. Coach MacInnes was also. I sat right behind him for 4 years and he never once lost his cool in all that time. So if coach Joe is shouting a the players, that is NOT a good thing, IMHO.

Regarding the rest of things. ASU was better than I expected, but they scored on a gimmick play with the floater that we didn't catch, and then We let in a bad goal, but again it was a play that doesn't happen all that often with the way it started and that we closed off after that. We.... on the other hand missed our breakaway goal.
I thought Both BC and NMU played pretty well and the games were good, and it was nice to have teams from elsewhere to be around. The games went off right on time, though as you say, there could have been a lot more calls especially in front of the ASU net where muggings were a routine thing.
the facility was average. I'm old, I take pills, and I went to take one during friday's game. There is not a single water fountain the the entire arena. If you want water, you have to pay 5 dollars to a concessionaire, which there was no way on Gods green earth I as going to do. Second you get to spend 11 dollars or maybe it was 13, for a slice of crummy pizza. Third, the ticketing was a scam. You buy a 60 dollar ticket, then you find out it's not really 60 dollars because there is a 9.50 convenience fee, which you pay whether you buy on line or at the box office, a 4.75 cent ticketing fee which you also pay in any event and a 15 dollar will call fee which you also might pay. So the 60 dollar ticket, which in my opinion is wayyyyy too much for a college hockey game turns into 75 at least.
I liked the tournament ,but Vegas you can have. I don't like the smoke in the hotel/casino, I don't like walking the strip at all, I don't like being nickel and dimed to death at every turn. I did get to play golf several times which was nice, but even there, fees, and fees, and more fees. Just tell me the fricken price!
I'm sorry we lost, but our guys are getting better no question. Who knows what the future brings.
Also attendance.... BC, maybe 300 people, NMU, maybe 300 people, ASU, maybe 400 people, MTU, 2000 +. So a great turnout and very supportive fans.

MS, I tend to agree with your game assessments, however this time I'm going to have to disagree. I must have missed that gimmick play you refer to. ASU's first goal came during 4 on 4 play and our player (Steman?) got stripped of the puck at the blue line and couldn't catch the ASU player on the resulting breakaway. He has to recognize the pressure and the fact that he's the last player back and get that puck deep. The second goal was very similar to BG's third goal at the GLi in that it was a nothing play along the rightwing halfboards and never should have ended up in the net. The third goal was like a flashback to the one that went right through Kero's legs at Yost last season. It's hard win games when you are giving up a couple of softies every game and you need the offense to come up with four goals a game just to have a chance.

Far too many mistakes, too many missed chances to clear the zone, too many loose pucks in scrums that we don't come up with, too many passes to the guy in the wrong colored jersey, turnovers, too many missed passes, too many wide open nets missed by a mile.. If in your opinion it's not lack of effort/compete then what is it? Everlasting bad luck? Karma? Lack of skill? Coaching? Systems?

I agree with you 100% about Las Vegas

Should be an interesting Coach Shawhan Show tomorrow..

Did the Tech fans enjoy the $13.00 beers? I spent some time with the tournament director. He was really impressed with the turnouts from both Tech & NMU, saying that they were easily the biggest draws, especially Tech. I was told that the tournament is booked for the next two years and nearly set for a third. Just a couple I’s to dot and t’s to cross before they make announcements.

And I thought $11 beers at LCA was ridiculous.. highway robbery!

Didn't stay for either late game. Tech def had biggest section in first game friday but i didn't notice any discernible difference between BC and NMU fans saturday.

So, without telling us who's playing the next couple years, did you book your hotel yet?

Concession prices at the big venue sporting events are way out of hand. I refuse to pay for $13 beers,$11 pizza, or $5 for a bottle of water. Talk about a price mark-up. You can shove it at those prices. I would rather starve.
