If they finish 4th they still have the qualifier against Mongolia or Nepal or somebody, right?

Likely Australia or Saudi Arabia. Or Syria.

Out of curiosity, where would the Syria game be?

                        Malaysia it looks like.

And 4th right now is not a guarantee. The US right now is tied with Honduras for 3rd/4th (with the US holding the better GD) but Panama is one back with 7 and playing Mexico right now. A draw puts all three on 8 points, with the US facing a likely loss to Honduras and Panama with a great shot against T&T. Those results hold, the US is in 5th facing two do or die games just to potentially be in 4th.

Jesus. How'd it come to this? Here I thought the one useful thing FIFA did over the last decade was fix it so our money would always make it no matter how sh-tty we played.

Presumably the refs will be paid off in Honduras?

There was a WC not too long ago that did not feature England and France.

1994. Not one British team (though Ireland did qualify). No France, Netherlands, Portugal, or Uruguay either.

                                Granted that was 24 teams.
