Definitely called-for, based on the circumstances.

Black rookie cop, dead white woman.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

Yet no mention of a racist cop. Works both ways.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

                It's a blue/nonblue matter. Some don't get that.

It could be if it was Afghanistan. The cops have to stop thinking that they're in a war zone.

It's along the same lines of them yelling "stop resisting!" to people whether or not they are actually resisting law enforcement in any way, so witnesses could then be procured who assume the cops were being resisted in some way. Why else would they yell that? is what most people reflexively think.

And I love the way the police spokesmen describe events like this: "Fearing for their safety, the officers fired their duty weapons striking the suspect multiple times." So clinical. Their words are almost surgical, making it seem like these were highly trained and supremely qualified individuals, who were faced with but one and only one choice, to unload a couple of magazines worth of 9MM rounds on someone who presented almost no actual threat to two heavily armed cops.

Sometimes. In this case, I haven't heard one mention of racism, despite the cop being a minority and the victim being a caucasian. Haven't even heard a hint of it.
