Trump voters (and many others) dont care about what foreign leaders think. CNN took it seriously along with the rest of the media. I don't think there is anything good about an attack on the first amendment and the Fourth Estate. And with the connection being made now between Russia and the Trump campaign, I'm somewhat hopeful.**NOTE: The misleading post above was brought to you by Reynold's Wrap and American Steeples, makers of Crosses.

The stereotypical "trump voters" -- and really because of circumstances a lot of poor people -- are probably among the least cosmopolitan people around. trump voters though are the kind of people who gleefully reject anything that originates from anywhere beyond the holler they live in. The narrative over the last couple of presidencies with the republicans is actually you show weakness in some ways by considering what the rest of the world thinks.

Last week on PBS David Brooks had this to say:
Originally posted by David BrooksDo the norms that used to govern politics re-establish themselves after the trump administration or are we here forever? I hope from the level of outrage that we have a snap-back, but the politics is broken, up and down, and trump may emerge from a reality TV world that is much more powerful than we think and there is the prospect that this is where we are, which is a horrific thought.
Certainly it starts with getting people with critical thinking skills to the polls. But if the best we can do is elect a handful of people to stop one bad president, we may as well pack it in. Obama was elected and he promised to do something about health care. Then he did. And the economy grew more in 2010 than in any year since. How were we rewarded? With a republican congress. Elections alone won't mean a d am n thing in the overall scheme and we can't sit around waiting for trump voters to die. Even with his policies potentially killing off plenty of them there are still plenty that we have to worry about.

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News
A generation is typically thought of as about 21 years' time. I'd say we are about half a generation away from the demographics really working against the GOP. That, I think, is at the heart of Kep's optimism. But that depends on some traditional voter assumptions, and we've learned how mistaken those can be.
What many have said about the 52% women's vote is true, IMO--that many of those women voted to support their husbands' current struggles. That 55-75 white male demographic brought the women along with it. The demographics will undoubtedly be a LOT different in 12 years, but it's hard to predict whether traditional voting assumptions will hold up.

Not that it matters, but I always thought of a generation as close to 30. 28-32 was a decent range and I always averaged it out to 30.Code:As of 9/21/10: As of 9/13/10: College Hockey 6 College Football 0 BTHC 4 WCHA FC: 1

Re: POTUS 45.13 - CNN is still Fake News
I don't really know, but there's a snarly old property law called the Rule Against Perpetuities that uses 21 years as a sort of generational measure. It reads as follows:
No [nonvested property] interest is good unless it must vest, if at all, not later than 21 years after some life in being at the creation of the interest.
If you want it explained in a way you can understand, you'd better call on unofan.Last edited by burd; 07-03-2017, 10:13 AM.
