My favorite part of the article:
Martins estimated that the punishment will cost about 85 fishermen their jobs. Most of them fish out of New Bedford.

“It’s crazy to do this, especially at Thanksgiving,” Martins said. “This is so unfair, so hurtful. How can you do this to men who are willing to sacrifice their lives to make a living? What are else are they going to do? We can’t afford to have these boats tied up.”
Weren’t they all complicit in this? If so, **** them with a fish.

Want faster internet? Pay more. Want to visit Facebook? Pay for the "Social Media" tier. Want sports? Pay for the "Disney/ESPN" package. Oh, you want FS1 and FS2? Pay for "Sports Plus." Oh, you actually thought you could stream WatchESPN after buying access to their website? Pay more.
How expensive will the “porn” tier be?

If they're smart, porn will be free. Otherwise, sexually frustrated Trumpers might completely lose it and seriously start CW2.

You don't understand this, do you?

Comcast is an ISP. If they feel too many people are utilizing bandwidth to watch ESPN stream, they're going to have the ability to charge more for the privilege of allowing you to watch. Facebook eats corporate time, Comcast could push social media off business tier internet packages or offer it as a more expensive service. Is Comcast unhappy with what CNN is reporting? Whoops, Comcast throttled that page on you, but hey, this NBC News (owned by Comcast) website without that nasty news is loading super fast, use this instead.

This isn't including intermediary ISP's that Comcast (Et. Al) connect to, to provide internet. The intermediaries could determine that Netflix to Comcast is using half their bandwidth, and charge Comcast more to allow Comcast to stream Netflix. In turn, Comcast now would charge a Netflix tax, just like the current "local sports broadcast surcharge" TV packages have.

Oh, and then don't forget this would allow AT&T to swoop in on these intermediary ISP's and offer them a Brinks truck of money to not throttle their access to Netflix, just so they can rub it in Comcast's face.

Oh, and while were on the subject of ISP's acting as Utilities, the telcos are actively working to end-of-life POTS* service to rural and "expensive" areas of America, while claiming this inaccurate Cellular Coverage maps and/or Satellite Phone/TV coverage is adequate.

*Plain-old-telephone-service. I used this acronym earlier on a post discussing the end of copper telephones in rural areas.

            But they're not.

Porn would likely be put on the "But Think of the Children" extra tier that would require drivers licence and/or Social Security number confirmation of your account.

But all senators and their staffers will have that free as part of their internet packages, so they can "monitor" the nasty, vile, disgusting things they're protecting the nation's youth from.

Idk what thread this belongs in but apparently 3M has been dumping thousands of gallons of toxic waste into the water.

This is part of the case that has been going on for 10+ years. 3M stopped making the product back in 2002 and has been cleaning up the sites since then. It’s also worth pointing out that the dump sites were legal at the time.

They already do this. It's called metered base and overage pricing for bandwidth usage. Something which, BTW, is still permissible under this. If you want to go after just practices, you're going after the wrong things.

Well, the actual dumps were made decades ago. I don't know the exact timeframe, but it was starting in the 40s or 50s. I think the last one was still decades ago before much of this area was developed.

Here's the superfund site from the EPA:
                      https://cumulis.epa.gov/supercpad/cu...cfm?id=0503840

There's a lot of good information there.

It's a complicated lawsuit. The KARE11 piece was just shoddy journalism. The Strib laid out more of the facts and what is being alleged. The most shocking news is the State is alleging "that [3M] suppressed the information over the objections of its own scientists; and that it withheld critical information from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)."

That would be a game-changer in my book. I've been following this since about 2004 when there was a seminar at the University of Minnesota about the chemicals in question.

Yeah idk if there’s anything we can actually do about net neutrality at this point but that’s a big issue. Another thing HRC wouldn’t have done.

Why would they do that? They're content in receiving the donation checks from Telcos to stand pat.

Also, when you have to align yourself with Comcast's support of net nutrality on this argument and argue against the FCC, you know Ajit Pai is a shi**y human.
