I would love to see some WCHA teams play at Pegula Ice Arena. Half the team is from Minnesota anyway (and I say that in a positive way).

I'll update the schedule as I find games on other teams' schedules (already added a bunch since initially posting the schedule). There are only a couple of gaps, and a few teams haven't released their 2017-18 schedules yet, but this should be a fairly complete list.

Ohio State hasn't published its 2017-18 schedule yet, and Penn State routinely plays them immediately following the holiday break, so that's a pretty good possibility for the gap at the first week of January 2018.

Very exciting and challenging schedule. Playing 5 of the 10 ranked teams, as of the last March 2017 ranking.

Since OSU came to Pegula last year, if they play each other this year it'll likely be in Columbus.

So likely no WCHA teams at Pegula this year but the Clarkson and Princeton games should be fantastic to watch as a fan, from a non conference perspective.

Those are the two home series I'm most looking forward to. I like that Kampersal is jumping right into it against the defending national champion, and you just have to like him taking on his former Princeton team, too. I wish Minnesota-Duluth were coming to Penn State, but maybe next season.

I believe you're both correct. The WCHA Composite Schedule indicates that Penn State comes to Columbus on the weekend of January 5-7, 2018.

Exact Dates & Times aren't specified, but 6:00PM Friday & 3:00PM Saturday would be good guesses. Don't rely on that, however. In particular, our Saturday face-off times vary a lot.

Thanks for that - I added a note to the schedule to show Ohio State that weekend.

No problem. Speaking only for myself, I believe this series should be played every season. Looking forward to the games.

Any problem doing a walk up for the Saturday Clarkson game?

There shouldn't be a problem doing a walk up for any game. The biggest crowds are usually at the special event games, like the Thon weekend games, but even then you'll be able to get a ticket at the window.

    February 23-24, 2018 (Friday/Saturday) - HOME vs LINDENWOOD - 2:00 and 2:00
The only open dates without a game listed are November 17-18 and February 2-3.

Penn State may be taking November 17-18 as a bye weekend, because they play a one-timer against Cornell on Tuesday, November 21, and then hit the Nutmeg Classic three days later on November 24-25.

The open weekend of February 2-3 may be because they play a one-timer against Princeton three days prior, on Tuesday, January 30.

No preseason exhibition game is listed here, either, but that could be against anybody.

None of the CHA teams have games scheduled Feb 2-3, which seemed weird to me. I've been keeping a composite schedule at www.tinyurl.com/CHAcomp

Are RIT fans mad at Celeste Brown for coming to coach at Penn State? I used to hate when her RIT team came to play at Penn State because she was all business all the time, always in beast mode. I like her a lot more now.

Ohio State has posted their 2017-18 schedule, so the Penn State series in Columbus on January 5-6 has been added here. St. Lawrence still hasn't posted their 2017-18 schedule, and they're no strangers to Penn State, so they may fill the gap on November 17-18 or February 2-3.

There are no games in addition to the ones you posted because with the 2 @ ohio state, Penn State is at their 34 game limit - all they can add is an exhibition game.

As far as Celeste Brown goes, she was one of my favorite players at RIT for the reasons you hated her

I'm not mad at all that she is coaching Penn State now - need to follow the opportunities.

Kampersal opted for an intrasquad scrimmage instead of an actual exhibition game, which is a first for Penn State, but hockey is hockey and it can't come soon enough.

Former players Laura Bowman and Amy Petersen really drove this team, and their graduation after last season leaves a big void, but also big opportunities for others to step up their game and fill the void, and it will be interesting to see which players do that.

I can't put a single line together looking at the 2017-18 roster, but since Kampersal doesn't know any of the players he has a blank canvas to work with. I can't wait to see what he does with this team, and can't wait to see what this team does with a new coach (finally).

It's really encouraging to see Kampersal go after last season's top ten teams and not waste ice time playing cupcake teams.

PSU played Clarkson and Princeton last year, so those deals might have already been in place. Obviously, Robert Morris isn't a scheduling choice. So the change with the top 10 involved replacing two games versus St. Lawrence with a total of three versus Cornell and UMD. The Nittany Lions also played Quinnipiac last year, and there's a chance they could run into the Bobcats in the Nutmeg Classic. Last year's schedule also had a pair with Boston University, likely tougher than anything they'll see from Hockey East this time. There were flaws under the old regime, but playing too soft of a schedule really wasn't one of them.

There were flaws under the old regime, but playing too soft of a schedule really wasn't one of them.
That's one positive thing that can be said of the old regime - they weren't afraid to have the team jump right into the fire to start a season. Last year it was Clarkson, and the previous two years it was Minnesota. I don't know how far out teams agree to play each other, but the old regime left in January. Maybe Dean Jackson did a lot of work on the 2017-18 schedule before he headed to Cornell. Whatever the case, it's good to see another season starting with a bang.

The series where one team plays a road series one year and then hosts a year or two later are often committed in advance.
