Haven't deleted anything. It's all in your head.

But the KKK is a hate organization. The communist party is nothing of the sort.

This is going to take a while to unpack, but it sounds like Lord of the Flies in the West Wing right now.

          http://www.politico.com/story/2017/0...on-edge-238482

A deflated and exhausted Sean Spicer, who continues to read reports that his job is in jeopardy but is working 12 hours every day in his office, huddled in his office with Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
I have no idea what Trump has done to earn this kind of loyalty from Spicer. Maybe the SNL sketches have given me a soft spot for him. But dang, man. I'd have cut bait and bailed last week when Trump was publicly fishing my job out to Guilfoyle.

Aides rushed to ask Trump what he had actually told Comey. But the White House had no memos or tapes of the meeting to rebut the claims, several officials said. Trump didn’t even give an entire readout of his conversation, leaving staffers “actually unaware of what happened,” one official said.
Trump was furious about the story, one of the officials said, but retreated to the White House residence within 75 minutes of it going online – leaving aides to “figure out how bad the fallout was.”
He's not even interested in defending himself. He just takes his ball and goes home to watch Fox and swim in his moneybin.

Two people familiar with White House discussions said Trump was determined to write a line in the letter firing Comey saying that the FBI director had given him three assurances he wasn’t under investigation. The words, said one White House adviser, “probably will cause him more heartbreak than anything else.” The line, this person said, had worried White House officials after it was printed – but few people saw the letter before it went out.
Heartbreak? That someone did their job?

Then it ends with this gem:
“And we are hoping the president doesn’t tweet,” one said. “Fingers crossed.”
I imagine it's only a matter of time before someone steals Rick Perry's glasses and starts chanting "Kill the pig, slit his throat, spill his blood!"

Professors are hardly in the "upper class." And my experience is that education and racism are inversely related.

@joncoopertweets: White House sources say Trump is cursing up a storm - ranting and raving. Yelling at staffers & using the "F" word. He's losing it tonight.

Everyone is racist to some degree based on today's broad base of what constitutes racism.

                      No one is 100% pure.

And I know plenty of racist and/or intolerant liberals.

The difference between the parties though is that one openly pursues a racist agenda while the other does not.

Those are some broad brush strokes, but at least it's not based on race.

                        Right?

That you could offer a comparison between the communist party and the KKK perfectly illustrates so many of the things we have talked about on this (and its predecessors) thread. My grandfather, like many working men who came of age in the early years of the 20th century, was a communist. Communism is an economic system, a theory. A lot of open-minded patriotic Americans were communists. Were they wrong about the theory? Almost certainly. Did "communism" get hijacked by evil dictators during the course of the 20th century? Of course. Just like Islam today. But my grandfather raised 3 boys who all went on to serve honorably in the Navy, Marine Corps and the Army, including one that did two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He also had a daughter who served in the Air Force. he was a hard working, America loving guy. I find it insulting and sad that anyone could equate communism with the KKK. The KKK is all about evil and wrong doing. Nothing about their ideology is uniquely good. Nothing. This continues in 2017. The KKK is still all about evil and wrongdoing. Communists may have been proven wrong about the efficacy of their methods, but so was Ronald Reagan when it came to trickle down economics and tax cuts.

People need to get something through their heads. No one here has ever said all republicans are bad. Or all conservatives are evil. I have voted for plenty of republicans and I used to be much more conservative than I am today. Kep has repeatedly posted about how vital it is that our nation have two healthy, opposing parties to check each other. I tend to lump all POLITICIANS together, both democratic ones and republican ones, because politicians in our system are all too often there for the wrong reasons. Of course there are evil, mean, bigoted people who call themselves democrats or who hold liberal views. But political polls and psychological studies show that -- for better or worse -- more bigots align themselves with the right and republicans today. Just like more democrats were the racists for most of the century following the Civil War.

And for the record Brent, my guess is you are not in lockstep with one of the parties or with me politically. But I don't believe you to be evil in the slightest, let alone evil incarnate. My guess is we have far more in common than not and would welcome you at my dinner table, as a neighbor or sitting next to me at a college hockey game. A member of the KKK? Not so much. They are the evil ones, and the ones who actually voted voted for Trump. There was not a single KKK leader who went on record as supporting Clinton.

Of course there are racist Democrats. But there is a very obvious difference between the two.

Republicans tend to let their racism to lay blame. And it's very much not just racism- its based on class as well. Which is how they manage to blame entire groups of people for their own problems, and have no problem not getting them back into the productive section of our economy. I was really stunned by a friend at work who pretty much blamed blacks for getting pulled over more often and getting shot at- as if THEY were the entire blame.

Anyway- even you see how Republicans are racist.

Democrats who are racists are pretty angry that they are racists. So they try to go out of their way to mentally stop it, even if they don't know they are still that way. They try to help minorities vote, they try to get help for the poor, they try to get the police to stop targeting minorities. All the while being angry at themselves when they react in a racist manner.

At least ONE group is trying to NOT be racists. (or large amount of them- since Democrats pretty universally support advancements for minorities and the poor)

At least how I see it.

BTW, if you want to see an entire community who has no real concept of racist here in the US- spend a lot of time in Puerto Rico. The population has been mixed ever since Columbus landed there, and the only real lines you see in "separation" are class based. I know people who grew up there, and when they came to the US, the whole minority/racist thing was totally new to them. Just like people who immigrate directly from Africa. It's funny how these lines hold so firmly in a country that is really made of people who mostly came here from someplace else in the world.

(Note 2- it's also funny how Republicans probably don't want Puerto Rico to be a state, as they "think" that the entire island is Democrats. In terms of identity politics, they are right, but in terms of raw issues, they could not be farther from the truth- Puerto Rico is just like every place else in the US- it switches between a more liberal and more conservative sets of leaders- but since R's have done a great job trying to attract the white male and pushing everyone else away, I'm not sure which side Puerto Rican's would actually take)

Interesting comparison of groups. Other than what was already posted...

One group is 100% against equality, whereas the other group is 100% for equality.

Communism may be the complete wrong economic model, but it's hard to argue that one of it's key points is that every one is absolute equality, in theory. Regardless of race, religion, starting economic class, whatever- every one was equal.

There some decent concepts one can take from Communism and Socialism to use in a Capitalist society. I'm not sure if there's a single concept from the KKK that is a good idea.

One of the KEY problems with Communism is the authoritarian governments that used it to control the people they ruled.

I don't think the case needs to be made that communism is not inherently evil while the KKK is.

                                Pretty obvious false equivalency.
