How long has it been since Michigan won a national title? 20 years? Michigan hockey is the equivalent of Notre Dame football, coasting off a reputation built decades ago.

How long has it been since BC has been to a Frozen Four? Over 6 years? It's only been 3 months for Michigan.

Try 2016. And 4 national titles since Michigan's last one.

Wait, what? A team other than an NCHC team has won a national title? When did that happen?
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

OK, my bad. You weren't in St. Paul this past April though. I think that there were a few goopher fans around but I didn't see any on the ice. To my surprise the UMD fans that I encountered were actuially decent. They were absolutely thrilled as they should be.

And yea, we have more than you so....

Hey, FS23, are you only going to end each entry with Last Year's Ranking only if there is a change this year? I noticed that line was included at the end of all last year's entries.

Anyway, I always enjoy this thread, along with FlagDUDE's scheduling thread, to stay engaged during the offseason. Many thanks!

Thanks for the kind words. I wasn't planning on putting in the change. I believe there have already been a couple changes (Mercyhurst and Holy Cross swapped places). Personally, I find the trends more interesting than the change in overall placement; however, maybe I can put together the full list at the end with each program's change in placement.

I appreciate your work too FS23, especially because Michigan should regain the top spot.

                          Thanks.

FS23 can run the numbers, but he can't created time travel and return you to 1962.

You're right, they did. I should have used '64, but that's like distinguishing between the bronze age and the iron age. Michigan was definitely at its peak then, but they've won only two since. Three other Michigan schools have won as many or more banners since then. Hard to believe with the school's assets, the development program, and that recruiting base so close by.

                                Gotta be the helmets,
