  • UND Players finding new schools

Losing a top 5 program like UND is a huge step in the wrong direction for women's hockey. In that process, many current players and commits need to find new homes should they want to continue to be a student athlete. Please post here of any new news on these girls finding a new school and as a hockey community wish them success.

Brad Schlossman of the Herald tweeted this.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

With Holy Cross' decision to move to D-I, it'd be great if they could get some players from North Dakota, even if the facility is a downgrade from the Ralph.

While this isn't a great outcome for women's hockey, the dispersal of UND players to other teams will have the effect of spreading their penalty minutes across a wider base.

It appears Willow Slobodzian has committed to Cornell. Not sure if she is still able to get through admissions for this upcoming season or if she will be in Cornell's 2018-19 recruiting class.

                  2016/17 total penalties: ND 161, Wisconsin 159, "Harrington's Hackers" 136.

Roque 19, Clark 18, Kolstad 17, Pankowski 16 penalties. Looks like last season Kolstad would have fit right in with the BADgers.

                      ruff crowd

                      FWIW, she's from Mankato
she did have 45 minutes of penalties on just 17 penalties

Harrington's hackers concussed ARD with as blatant intent to injure knee to the head as you will ever see and ARD missed 5 games. Kolstad concussed Channel with an elbow to the head and she missed 4 games late in the year.

Cut John some slack. He used to coach men's hockey so he hasn't learned the women's game yet and his fat friend he hired as his "top" assistant doesn't know anything about women's hockey either. Poor Shari is outnumbered there. Can she really be expected to teach the game to an Olympic legend and an unknown gymnast?!

Okay, I understand North Dakota's penalty disease. It's always been endemic to their region and maybe it is spreading now to Mankato. But what I don't understand is how Wisconsin could have 50 more penalties this past year than did that "rodent" team you so despise. In four of their games this season Wisconsin had a combined total of 20 penalties that they won by a combined score of 31 to 0. Is it simply a lack of discipline at times or is it because they feel they're so far ahead a few hacks or checks don't matter or is it something else?

UND had 25 more penalties than the Mavs for an additional 75 minutes, so some naughty girls at UND
the player that took out Desbiens only had 4 penalties all year
and it happened after a Badger hit the Mavs goalie
so it sounds like it was more a case of losing your cool and retaliating rather than a bad apple

in fairness, you should list the number of penalties by the other four teams in those games
it could be that the other teams were frustrated and decided to play rough, and the Badgers responded in kind
