MTU & NMU Hockey New Head Coaching Deals????

    Joe Shawhan's deal with MTU is (4-years @ $210K per year = $840K) while Grant Potulny's deal with NMU is (5-years @ $196K per year = $980K)

I think MTU's Mel Pearson was @ $285K per year and NMU's Walt Kyle was @ $185K per year....

Not sure about the MTU & NMU assistant salaries.... If anyone knows please post....

Freshman Forward Jacob Crespi (6'1" 190lbs) - Brighton, MI - "2017 Michigan Mr. Hockey" is no longer listed as an incoming member of the 2017-18 NMU Hockey team on the NMU website.... Not sure what's going on with this????

      • Really liked what I heard from the Potulny forum today. Talked about not doing two-for-ones and getting MSU OSU, and Minnesota to the BEC on fair deals. Saying he's not afraid to play the Big Ten teams. Also talked about speed and how this will be an exciting team.

I was there too and also liked what I heard. Don't know how he will pull off one for one deals but I hope it works out.

Former Minnesota coach Doug Woog used to call Lakeview Arena "The Sardine Can" when his Gophers would come to Marquette to play NMU back in the 80's & 90's.... It will be good to see them back in town playing NMU again.... I hope Potulny can schedule them to play at NMU....

According to a previous post the writer said Poltuny wants to bring OSU, MSU & Minnesota to Marquette to play the Cats in non-conference play.... What about ND, PSU & Michigan???? NMU already plays Wisconsin.... NMU plays (6) non-conference games in 2017-18 with NMU vs LSSU (Away & Home), Wisconsin @ NMU (In GB), NMU @ UNO.... What about scheduling (2) Big 10 schools instead of LSSU & UNO so all (6) of NMU's non-conference games would be against Big 10 schools???? This would really help out NMU with the RPI and Pairwise rankings and would also help NMU with strength of schedule plus these Big 10 teams would draw large crowds at The Berry so it's a great situation for NMU all the way around if Poltuny can pull off this kind of scheduling off.... It's good to see that he wants to do it!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you give him a little time, just a little. Though I could be wrong I have some doubts you will get Michigan up to the UP more than once a season.

He also said he won't do 2-for-1s. Which ND do you mean? Norte Dame or North Dakota? The schedule agreement with Wisconsin ends with this year's series in Green Bay.. UW has chosen to go in other directions.

I was referring to Notre Dame as they are now in the Big 10 for Hockey.... Potulny said he wants 1 for 1's and not 2 for 1's so if he could schedule Big 10 schools instead of playing LSSU & UNO in non-conference that would be great for the NMU program....

LSSU has been trying to get Jeff Jackson to bring his team to the Soo for years. LSSU has been to ND and to the Shilelagh Tourney and still no luck. Maybe if more WCHA teams refuse 2-for-1 deals, more Big Ten teams will take even swaps. Tech & LSSU are currently on 2/1's w MICH & MSU.

LSSU has not played in the Shilelagh yet. I believe they still have to play in that before Notre Dame makes the return trip, so it is actually a 3/1.

Maybe Poltulny and NMU AD Forrest Karr can get a 1 for 1 with Notre Dame being that Karr is a ND alumni and played hockey there.... NMU vs ND in D1 College Hockey would be very interesting.... Plus coach Jeff Jackson is at ND so on paper it looks like this could be scheduled.... Any thoughts on this possible scenario????
