    Sean
It has to be a team they play once at home, so that drops UVM.

Was it also reported HOW the specific teams comprising the 4 "extra" league games that each HEA team will now play in the post-Notre Dame era are/were determined? Was it based on last season's order of finish? Or has the League been partitioned into unofficial 'divisions,' so the extra games reside in each team's cross-over division? Is each team locked into its respective division permanetly? Will this season's 2 extra home games flip to road games vs. the same opponent next season? Is there a fixed rotation of opponents in place going forward? Just curious re: the details, and whether Bertagna and/or coaches and ADs have given any thought to ensuring some semblance of multi-year 'balance' vis a vis assigning extra opponents in future seasons ...

        Road:
        Minnesota-Duluth (2 games in October),
Denver/Colorado College (2 games in December)
        Colgate (2 games).
For the four extra Hockey East games. Merrimack will have Boston University and Northeastern at home and UMass and Providence on the road.

"When you look at our schedule for 2017-18 when we’re back at 11 teams, the coaches voted to add four games. So in addition to the home-away games against each opponent, each team will play an additional four games in the league, so we’ll have an imbalanced schedule.

We had Tim Danehy, who does computer programming for the NCAA, he figured out a way to take the previous year’s standings and make it fair. You want to make sure someone isn’t getting the top-four teams or the bottom-four teams in those extra games. You need to get a mix, and there is a point system working in there.

There’s the potential that, just because a team is eighth one year, it doesn’t mean they don’t have a good year the next, so you could have a schedule that has a concentration of very good teams. But no one wanted the alternative, which was 20 league games and 14 non-league games. Instead they wanted 24 and 10, so we’ll see how that goes. But I don’t see us getting to the point where we just take a 12th team because it isn’t working, we can make it work."

Bertagna didn't mention more than one season, but the BDN reported that while UNH will visit Maine twice this coming season the Bears will visit Durham twice the following year.

"Each Hockey East team will play six conference opponents twice and four teams three times apiece. The schedule is set up on a two-year rotation so teams play the same four opponents three times.

For example, UMaine’s extra games for 2017-2018 are against New Hampshire, Boston College, Boston University and Massachusetts. UMaine has the extra home game against New Hampshire and Boston University and plays twice on the road against Boston College and UMass.

The home-game arrangement is reversed for 2018-2019.

Bertagna and Hockey East director of communications Brian Smith said an algorithm was designed by Tim Danehy of collegehockeystats.net based on the 2015-2016 Hockey East standings to ensure the schedule is equitable."

Interesting they're going to reverse it, instead of take the approach from the other leagues that over the course of a number of years, you get specific opponents an equal number of times. At least that makes next year easier.

Are you sure about that. If the computer calls for an extra game at Vermont then to be fair it should be at Vermont. Unless it is tweaked to prevent that. For Maine it appears to have worked out well giving the extra game the opposite of the two initial ones. Maine and Vermont are unique in Hockey East scheduling and either play both at home or away.

I am only going off a twitter feed which shows the match ups so with that stated I am ASSUMING they are going back to the points format to declare the champion as this would ensure that both Big Green and Yale do not face each other.

Also on the twitter feed it states that the Big Green will be playing at DU and I believe it is in Denver!

Thanks for the info. Only two possible dates are, given Ivy League scheduling rules, Thanksgiving weekend and the weekend before Christmas.

But if there was the call for an extra game, would they really play thrice away or thrice at home? That doesn't make too much sense to me, and they would at least try to split that up. Obviously BC has three 2-home-1-away situations, and given they've released a home schedule, we know the last one will be away. I would think it'd be a 1-2, but we will know soon enough.

Some more updates on UW (per a Todd Milewski article)

The date of two of the Badgers' non-conference games for the 2017-18 season has been released.

North Dakota will play UW at the Kohl Center on Nov. 3 and 4, according to the Fighting Hawks schedule announced Wednesday. It's the start of the second half of a four-season contract that brought the Fighting Hawks here in 2014 and took the Badgers to Grand Forks in 2015.

After a year off in the 2016-17 season and North Dakota's trip to UW in 2017, the Badgers are scheduled to travel in 2018.

The Badgers also have contracts to play two games against Northern Michigan at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, two home games each against St. Lawrence and Mercyhurst and single games at Boston College and Merrimack in the 2017-18 season.

They had a deal to play a series at Michigan Tech next season in return for games in Madison in 2018-19, but that has been pushed back.

The Badgers are in discussions to play in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game in the 2017-18 season. That game doesn't count toward the 34-contest limit.

Looking at what is already on the schedule, I would guess that we can safely pencil in the 1 away at Merrimack for Oct 14 to match up with BC on Oct-13.

I had heard Oct 20-21 for the UW vs NMU in Green Bay series. Looking at what UW already has on the sheet as well as what the Resch Center in Green Bay is showing on their calendar, that seems to be the most logical date.

Does anyone have any information about the 17-18 Hall of Fame Game? Other teams being mentioned? Date and place?

Spreadsheet should have most of that filled out; I think there's only a couple of gaps as to whom. As to when, that will come in due course.
