    Re: 2017-18
Norwich has 4 commitments on the SJHL home page and other commitments are listed by team and college.

      Re: 2017-18 commitments

If the best JR league that feeds D3 is the NAHL, and the overwhelming majority of NAHL recruits are going to the NCHA, then the 2018 National Champion should come from the NCHA.

Looks like your link might still be listing all the WIAC schools as members of the NCHA.

Indeed, that is skewing the results. That said, the NAHL has fed into the West Region teams more than the East Region for years. My theory is that it is a product of the geographic footprint of the NAHL being more concentrated near the MidWest.

The NAHL is definitely the best US-based league feeding into D3, since USHL recruits at this level are few and far between. The SJHL and AJHL in Canada may have something to say about the best overall, and the Ontario leagues aren't far behind. But the name of the league the guy played for isn't the be all and end all. Just because a kid was a great 3rd line guy in the NAHL doesn't mean he's going to be a game-changing stud at the D3 level.

Norwich has found good prospects in all of them...EHL guys like Salvucci, Piacentini, Smith, Russell, Flaherty...NAHL guys like Brandrup....AJHL with Ostepchuk...SJHL with Williams, Reichenbach. Even found a decent one in the Ontario league...some guy named Pelletier?

It's all about casting a wide net and having the commitment to get coaches out on the road often. Steve Mattson does a terrific job doing this at Norwich. Big part of the success rate.

Exactly! It's about the player's skill set and ability to be coached, not about what league he happened to play in.

                  Coach Emery on Tommy Bowe:
"A gritty defenseman that loves to play the body, Tommy can get the puck from the point to the net. As a player who prides himself on his defensive play, he's not afraid to sacrifice and block shots. His defensive pride is his key, but he will surprise you with good seam passes on his breakouts and in his offensive zone play."

via Twitter/Geneseo/D3hockey....Steven Collins from Geneseo will be at the Washington Caps pre-season camp as Norwich has William Peletier at the Hawks? camp as well I believe....good luck to them a nice commitment.

Collins was definitely a stud at Geneseo.

Pelletier was on the Blackhawks team that just won the Traverse City prospects tournament.

With the Northeast Generals based in Alterboro, MA it will be interesting to see if the New England D1 and D3 teams recruit more NAHL players since they will only have to drive down Route 95 to see the Generals games against other NAHL teams. It should help balance the recruiting advantages the Midwest teams have recruiting in the NAHL.
