Only a half hour, I'll watch again. Didn't think it was as bad as black mirror though. I didn't get an emotional gut punch quite like the ones I get from black mirror.
Yeah, I didn't get the gut punch so much as it made my skin crawl. It's predictable, but creepy. Black Mirror as a whole is far better.

American Grit is pretty good, even though it's a reality TV show at heart.

The Keepers on Netflix, if you're in the mood for something completely soul crushing that will destroy every ounce of faith you have in humanity, is pretty good. A documentary series that looks into the murder of a nun in Baltimore in the late 60's. And to tie in with the Cops thread, plenty of proof that corruption in the Baltimore PD is nothing new.

The ACLU filed an amicus brief in the John Oliver coal lawsuit, and it's a doozy.

Actually, the most savage part of it is when they point out that Bob says "nothing has stressed him out more" than Oliver's speech. So he's essentially saying that the collapse of his mine in which workers died was less stressful or concerning to him, than being told to "eat sh*t" by a British comedian on a premium cable channel.

What a living piece of excrement. He should have gone to prison for negligent homicide.

Execs and owners who can be shown to have known about and lied about lethal dangers should go to federal PITA prison. Corporate crime is violent crime.

                      Narcos S3 on Sept 1. Yeah, that's a binge.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Started Iron Fist last night. Heard the reviews were not great but I really liked episode 1.

I thought it was pretty entertaining throughout, and some of the negative reviews were really stupid. Things like complaining why no one wonders where Danny has been and this and that isn't very realistic blah blah blah... The show is about a guy with a freaking magic fist, pretty sure you have to throw reality out the window. Not the strongest Netflix Marvel series, but worth watching if you've seen the rest and plan on watching The Defenders.

TCM (I think) has been running a Lon Chaney fest. I had never seen anything except "Phantom." The movies are wonderful. Chaney is of course unbelievable in his makeup and stunts, but also the movies themselves are the finest melodrama I've ever seen. They really feel like 19th century theater pieces of Grand Guignol or music hall.

My favorites: "The Penalty" and "The Ace of Hearts." Fun fact: the latter was adapted from a best selling pulp written by Gouverneur Morris IV, a Yale-educated great grandson of the Founder who wrote the Preamble to the US Constitution.

If you're interested in the history of American popular culture and entertainment, particularly in the period of 1890-1930, I strongly recommend trying to find these. They are very, very strange.
