Agreed. This year the NLCS has Nats-Dodgers written all over it.

Dodgers are an unreal roll. Long ways to go yet but if I had to bet I'd say yes Dodgers/Nats.

I don't see another team challenging either of those two, as all parties are currently constructed.

The Dodgers need another starter. It's obvious Kershaw pitches Game 1 of any given postseason series...........but who do you trust starting Game 2?

I'm sure they will make a move before the trade deadline.

Oh, of that I have no doubt. But they're certainly not going to be the only ones. That's why I edited the post and threw in the line "as currently constructed".

Uhhh, you trust Kershaw in game 1?

He's their ace. He's got to go Game 1.

Yes, I'm well aware of his postseason record.

EDIT: Look at the rest of that rotation. It's either him or Alex Wood, who WILL come back to earth in the 2nd half of the season. Look at his career numbers. He's pitching waaaay over his head right now.

They have to go with him, but I'd be more than a little queasy. Wood likely will come down, but look at Arrieta's sudden rise from mediocrity.

Kershaw might screw around and win another MVP this year. He might seriously win 25 this year. Wood will struggle to get much past 15 wins. Yeah, I know wins are vastly overrated, but we haven't had a 25 game winner in the majors in 27 years. The Dodgers have won Kershaw's last 13 starts. That is not a coincidence.

Wood is pitching so far above his head it's not even funny. He's a point-and-a-half above his career ERA coming into this year, and his WHIP is .350 below career averages. No way he sustains that. He was a very high draft pick (2nd round), but he's certainly not THIS good.

I'd rather take my chances with Kershaw in Game 1 than Wood every day of the week. Where it REALLY gets scary is what they do for Game 3. They need a starter, and badly.

Arietta had a career 4.53 going into 2015 and finished the year at 1.77. Again, not saying it's likely Wood maintains, but it's certainly possible.

Certainly. But I would also argue that he's the exception to the rule.

I trust Kershaw period. The post-season thing is SSS.

The Mets would trade them deGrom for, say, their best 5 prospects. :-)

The Nats have never made played in the NLCS. Very close to mirroring the accomplishments of the Capitals.

In other words, bet against the Nats in the playoffs.
