Also - I've noticed that earlier in the season Princeton played at SLU Friday, then at Clarkson Saturday. This weekend, they play the same 2 opponents in the same order. Anyone know why it isn't "Clarkson at Princeton" Friday, then "Clarkson at Quinnipiac" (and SLU at Princeton) on Saturday? Usually the travel partner order is reversed the 2nd time around.

Without knowing for sure, I'm assuming it's because SLU and Quinnipiac are not playing next weekend; the Friendship Four game between them back in November was the Quinnipiac home game. So SLU goes and just plays Princeton Friday. It would have been an advantage to Quinnipiac to host Clarkson Saturday without playing on Friday.

They probably should have switched to order of the games in the North Country, so they would reverse now.

My guess was that the SLU at Q game being moved to Belfast had something to do with it. Until reading your post, I thought it made more sense for SLU to play at Princeton on Saturday (as was originally scheduled), so the SLU players wouldn't miss Friday classes. But after reading your post, drshoen, it would give Quinnipiac an unfair advantage over Clarkson, since they would have extra rest when the Knights would have played the night before (and traveled from NJ).

With a Saturday game, SLU would have traveled probably Thursday afternoon.

As for unfair advantages... They do it for Harvard and the beanpit (no typo ) and we know how well that has worked out.

I know Harvard often plays one game on Fridays during Beanpot weekends, but do they play one game on Saturdays? I don't recall any (but it's been a while since a Clarkson game got moved, so I'm not sure).

Typically, Harvard will move the Saturday fixture to prepare for the Beanpot. There are some schools that will object to it *coughbrowncough*. RPI and Harvard had the league fixture in December.

Harvard has not lived up to its bargain on this, but the reality is that any ECAC objecting to this scheduling switch is moronic...esoecually when their OOC is filled with the Atlantic Hockey. If Harvard performs, positive PWR boost for the entire ECAC. SLU moved up 2 spots after last night's win vs NU.

This season, the league gave Harvard an "open weekend" before the first Monday in February, which may have been done on purpose so they would only have to move one league game (as opposed to two in the past). Next season's "block schedule" has already been released, and just like this season, Harvard has an open weekend before their 1st Beanpot game, and will move one league game (coincidentally, also against RPI) to accommodate the 2nd Beanpot game. It even has a not about this at the top of the file:

Why would Brown not object? There were a couple occasions in the past decade or so where our Harvard home game - typically one of the best attended games of the season - was moved to a random Tuesday to accommodate for the Beanpot. How does that benefit Brown?
