I feel, though, that to the extent this massive *******up resulted from a large and complicated mix of factors which caused such widespread frustration with and distrust of business and government as usual that a Trump could become President, we are all responsible. For feeding our perceived need for all the shyt we seem compelled to buy. For the debt we willingly incur to have much of that shyt. For the energy we consume, often thoughtlessly. For constantly looking out for our own interests, which makes us so easy to manipulate. For looking the other way when someone makes a bigoted comment in our presence. For giving up power and control one small measure at a time. For retreating.
Trump happened to catch lightning in a bottle. People were sick of the political machine (like it or not, fair or not, Hillary will ALWAYS be tied to her husband's dealings, public or private, political or not). Add to that her own actions and attitudes and ties....unfortunately, Trump was the benefactor of this anger.

The Dems say that they could have run just about anyone other than Hillary against Trump and they would have won. They are most likely correct.
The Repubs say that they could have run just about anyone other than Trump against Hillary and they would have won. They are also most likely correct.

All parties screwed up, in a big time way.

Watching the White House lackeys lie on the morning shows is staggering. They simply say what they want. They have contempt for the truth and for the public.

The day cannot come soon enough when these halfwits return to their much-deserved impotence.

Have you been asleep since 1/20/17? They have and will continue to assume that they have a mandate and govern as such.

Brent and burd nailed it. The Repubs are in power only due to a perfect storm and being ever so slightly less stupid than the Dems

The GOP controls well over half of state governments outright and both chambers of Congress. And tons and tons of local governmental entities.

That's not a perfect storm, that's winning bigly. They got lucky on POTUS, but they rolled the undercard.

You are correct about the state and local elections but POTUS was the topic.

I remember hearing, so take this for what it's worth, but something like 20-30 state legislature seats separate the GOP from passing whatever constitutional amendments they want.

The state legislatures could be what dooms this country.

Bernie beat Hill in Michigan without even joining a party. He would have dominated in the Midwest in a general election. When MI/WI go Repub you know the D candidate had to be the worst candidate in the history of people. The bad news? Hill is running again in 2020

Il Douche is trying to pick a fight with Cuban again. Apparently, the WH is genuinely scared he will run in 2020.

                            Here's the math:
32 states are controlled by the GOP in both houses
Alaska needs to flip the three Rs that are part of the D coalition and then both houses are R
Colorado needs to have five seats flip D to R in their house
Connecticut needs to have four flip in the house and one flip in the senate
Delaware needs five in their house, one in the senate
Maine - 3 in the house
                            New Mexico - 5 & 6
                            Oregon - 6&3
                            Washington - 2&0

Governors protect Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia.

So they would need six of the eight states, plus governors in seven GOP-controlled states, and one of Connecticut or Colorado.
