ECAC is a large umbrella organization. There are 87 Division 1 members plus 26 D2 and lots of D3 members. Among the members 10 of 11 Hockey East teams. So BU has that exemption too

Not sure if that is what is meant as the entire Patriot League may be in the ECAC as well which would make the entire bylaw null. Colgate is in the ECAC Hockey League and that is what might be meant by the bylaw.

The ECACHL is not managed by the ECAC. The fact that there are no more ECAC D3 hockey leagues should tell you something.

Air Force is projected to join its fellow service academies int eh Patriot League and AIC would move up from D2 to join, making it six members with hockey teams, thus forming a new conference (along with BU, Colgate, Army, and Holy Cross). The ECAC would split between Ivies (forming their own conference) and the other six, who would then join Atlantic Hockey. Could be interesting...
I'm having a hard time believing AIC is gonna make the jump to D1.

LeMoyne : Another D2 school, and they could get the one up on Syracuse.
Lehigh : Bethlehem and Allentown now have had an AHL team for a few years. Here is their next step.
SUNY Albany : Get a rivalry with Union and RPI and put a tenant into the downtown rink now that they lost their AHL team.
I like all of these. Especially Buffalo. It's the talk about Navy that worries me. Seems to me Army and Air Force are already drawing from a small pool of prospective players. Adding Navy doesn't make that pool any larger.

              Re: Atlantic Hockey

A good read on all Atlantic Hockey teams, with predictions at the bottom. I original posted in the AIC thread but seeing the reviews and predictions are Atlantic Hockey I thought it is more appropriate to re-post here. We can keep the AIC thread for AIC specifics, the standings and such here. Sorry for not being able to move my original post, I am still getting used to this site and appreciate everyone's patience with this newbie....lol.

The Atlantic Hockey coach's poll should be out soon enough, that will give us plenty of time for discussion and putting finger to keyboard on our 2017 / 2018 standings. I have my lists already made, patience however as we wait for final additions to teams.

                .
I don't get how they pick Sacred Heart to finish this season in the same spot as last season despite graduating something like half their goal scoring. I've got them pegged for dead last behind a somewhat improved Niagara.

                  Re: Atlantic Hockey

Wholeheartedly agree with you on that one, team has lost more than double any other team by way of offense, including 10 players including their key guys.

I enjoyed reading their team by team profiles as we seldom receive information on Atlantic Hockey, but take their standing predictions with a large grain of salt.

I will wait for the Atlantic Hockey coaches poll seeing the coaches know each others teams very, very well and will be in position to be much more accurate.

The season is 4 to 5 weeks away, do hope posters will be joining the discussion soon and we can all give our personal standings list and banter about. I have my list but in isolation it doesn't mean much, once we get a few more posters contributing it will be much more fun.

                  Cheers.

I tried to describe expectations for each of our AHC teams on Fighting Sioux 23's Greatest Programs of All Time thread, which seems to be stuck around the 20th team in the rankings for the past couple of weeks (now on page 2). I was relieved that my Bentley Falcons again avoided dropping into 60th/last place.

I thought that this thread was decadal, extending through the 2019-2020 season?

I think all the teams will be playing in Hockey East or the ECAC by then!

You know the season is just around the corner when the Coaches Poll and Media Poll 2017/2018 re standings are released.

I believe last season the Coaches Poll was released Monday September 19th & the Media Poll released Friday September 30th.

So should be any day now, I think it is going to be a tough one this year as the conference has lost a great deal of skilled goaltenders in Starrett, Gahagan, Williams and Rotollo which makes a large impact at the most critical position. Those teams have enough depth to overcome the loss, but whether it drops them a spot or three will be the question.

Looking forward to the polls......anyone wish to put up their list yet or we all waiting for the first salvo from the polls before making our lists public.

Curious about this -- who controls where the tournament is played? Who owns/runs the Ice Breaker? I admit I had no idea there was a bidding process for host sites.
