        #13 - Los Angeles Rams
        Points: 138.6384
        Super Bowl Championships:
        1 (XXXIV)
        NFL Championships: 3 (1945, 1951, 1999)
        Playoff Appearances: 27 (19-24 (0.442))

The Los Angeles Rams come in at #13 on this list. The Rams' franchise began in Cleveland as part of the American Football League in 1936, but moved to the NFL to begin the 1937 season. The Cleveland Rams struggled in the pre-war years, and suspended operations in 1943 due to World War II. However, after resuming play in 1944, The Rams won their first NFL Championship the following season with a 15-14 victory over the Washington Redskins. After the 1945 title, the Rams moved to Los Angeles, where they would continue their success, advancing to three straight NFL Championship games between 1949-1951, winning the 1951 NFL title over the Cleveland Browns. Los Angeles would largely struggle for the next two decades, making 3 trips to the postseason between 1953-1969. However, following the AFL-NFL merger, the Rams would have nearly 2 decades of strong play. From 1970-1989, the Rams won 8 division titles, made 14 playoff appearances, advanced to the NFC Championship game 7 times, and played in Super Bowl XIV. Unfortunately for the Rams' faithful, they were unable to secure a Super Bowl title in L.A., and moved for a second time following the 1994 season, this time to St. Louis. The Rams struggled in their first 4 seasons in St. Louis, but beginning in 1999, began a six-year run as the "Greatest Show on Turf." St. Louis surprised the NFL with an offensive assault and won their first Super Bowl over the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV. The Rams advanced to the Super Bowl for a third time following the 2001 season, and were heavy favorites, but fell to the New England Patriots in a nail-biter. St. Louis made another strong run in 2003, but fell in the Division Round to eventual NFC Champion Carolina Panthers. After another early exit in the 2004 playoffs, St. Louis struggled both on and off the field. The Rams failed to post a winning record from 2004-2015, and after the 2015 campaign moved again, this time back to Los Angeles beginning with the 2016 season. The Los Angeles Rams will look to improve on their 4-12 record in their first season back in L.A. If they can do so, win some hardware, and perhaps get back to and win another Super Bowl, they could move up this list.

You should do a whole write up on Georgia Frontiere, the former hooker who inherited the Rams in the 1980s. Apparently she was a piece of work, as in Harold Ballard / Marge Schott level of bizarre behavior.

              Super Bowl Championships:
              2 (VII, VIII)
              NFL Championships: 2 (1972, 1973)
              Playoff Appearances: 23 (20-21 (0.488))

The Miami Dolphins come in at #12 on this list. The Dolphins joined the American Football League to start the 1966 season, but struggled in their 4 pre-merger seasons, failing to record a winning record. However, the hiring of Don Shula as head coach changed the franchise's fortunes. The Dolphins made their first postseason appearance in Shula's first season, and quickly ascended to the top of the NFL. The 1971 campaign saw Miami advance to Super Bowl VI, falling to Dallas 24-3. That would be the last loss for the Dolphins for over a year. Miami went undefeated in 1972, winning Super Bowl VII over the Washington Redskins 14-7, becoming the first, and, to date, only team to go undefeated for an entire season in the Super Bowl era. The Dolphins would follow up with another Super Bowl winning campaign, going 12-2 and winning Super Bowl VIII over the Minnesota Vikings 24-7. Shula would lead Miami to 2 more Super Bowl appearances in his tenure, falling to Washington in Super Bowl XVII and dropping Super Bowl XIX to the San Francisco 49ers. Shula would lead the Dolphins from 1970-1995, winning 2 Super Bowls and 11 division titles, making the playoffs 16 times, and appearing in 7 AFC Championship games. Following Shula's retirement, the Dolphins had moderate success, making 5 straight playoff trips from 1997-2001, but were unable to advance past the Divisional Round. Since 2001, the Dolphins have largely struggled, making only 2 playoff trips, losing both times in the Wild Card round. However, Miami did put together a 10-6 campaign in 2016, the franchise's best record since 2008. If Miami can get back to the success they had under Don Shula, perhaps make another Super Bowl and win another title, they will likely move up in these rankings.

The Indianapolis Colts come in just outside the Top 10, at #11 on this list. The Colts franchise began in Baltimore in 1953, and quickly became a dominant force in the NFL, winning back-to-back NFL titles in 1958 and 1959. Baltimore struggled immediately after their 1959 title, but rebounded in 1964 to make another trip to the NFL Championship Game. The Colts continued their success, barely missing out on the NFL title in 1965. In 1967, the Colts nearly went undefeated, going 11-1-2, but lost the division tiebreaker to the Rams and failed to make the NFL playoffs. Baltimore would come back in 1968 and dominate the NFL, going 13-1 and winning the NFL Championship. Unfortunately for the Colts, they fell to the New York Jets in one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history. Baltimore would redeem itself in 1970, winning Super Bowl V over the Dallas Cowboys in a mistake-filled game. The Colts would largely struggle after its World Championship, advancing to the playoffs only 3 times before shocking many and moving the franchise to Indianapolis in 1984. Once in Indy, the Colts continued their struggles, making only 1 playoff appearance from 1984-1994. However, Indianapolis would reverse its fortunes in the mid-1990s, advancing to the AFC Championship Game in 1995. The Colts would sustain their success for much of the next 20 seasons. From 1995-2014, the Colts won 10 division titles, advanced to the playoffs 16 times, appeared in 5 AFC Championship Games and 2 Super Bowls, and won Super Bowl XLI following the 2006 season. The Colts have been mediocre the past 2 seasons, going 8-8 in each campaign. However, with Andrew Luck at the helm, Indy will look to get back to their winning ways in 2017. If they do, and win some more hardware and perhaps another Super Bowl, they will likely move back up into the Top 10.

Correct. The NFL classifies them as exhibition games, so they are not included in these rankings.

The latest brain study examined 111 former NFL players. Only one didn’t have CTE.

A legal tackle shall be when a player is wrapped up in the tackling player's arms and brought to the ground, or a player touches the out of bounds line, or when an offensive player "gives himself up" by intentionally going to ground.

You eliminate the collision when the defensive player running at high speed crashes into the ball carrier.
