    I put together my best guess at a projected UVM roster.

    Yellow = seniors
    Green = juniors
    Orange = sophomores
    Blue = freshmen
    Number in []s = draft round (Misley will probably go this summer as well)

    This excludes:

    A) any decommits that I've missed
    B) players leaving early for pros or transferring
    C) cuts like Kearley/Ferguson last year
    D) last-second recruits (Massie last year)

      Re: UVM Recruiting: The future of Catamount hockey

      I am glad we finally have one of these charts for UVM. It is hard to keep track considering how many recruits the coaches keep bringing in.

      If the coaches accelerate any of the USHL D, I hope they bring in Long instead of Petrillo (although I think both of them need another year). If the roster didn't already have so many players on it, I would say they should just go out and find another 20 yo D-man this spring, but there are already so many players for the next couple of years.

      Should we start making guesses who gets cut in the offseason (yeah it is sad, but it also the reality of this program right now). I think Best and Klein.

        Long would actually be smart from a chemistry standpoint; he's teammates with Evers at Lincoln. In his season recap for the BFP, Ted Ryan seemed to lean towards Kelly being the third D brought in, but CollegeHockeyInc's commitments page has him down for 2018-19, so who knows.

        I'm actually working on a piece for the Cynic on recruitment right now; just got my assignment for the April 12 issue today. I'll report back with any findings.

        I'd tend to agree. Klein didn't play a single game as a fresh and Best has barely played in his first two seasons.

          Ted Ryan in the Free Press March 20:

          "One senior could return. Defenseman Ori Abramson is expected to seek an exceptional medical waiver from the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility due to a lengthy illness at the start of his career. His size and experience would be a huge asset."

          I don't think that Klein expects to play but will stay with the program and Best was injured all year two years ago so this was really his first year. I don't see either of them leaving. Irwin however has not been given a show of support from the coaches and depending upon how they view the incoming forwards, may be on the outside looking in. That said, we have to remember that Hamilton was told that he was not going to be a part of the plan and ended up being the best player on the team.

            I did not see that (and I read the article FFS), but that's AWESOME if he can get it. Probably also explains why he hasn't joined a pro team on an ATO yet.

                    NEW RECRUIT ALERT: Flin Flon Bombers (SJHL) defender Cory Thomas.

                    https://***********/10_CTHOMAS/statu...60693132443648

                    6'5", SJHL All-Rookie last year, played for Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge. Based on his numbers, seems to be more of a shutdown D.

                    Going to assume this means bad news on the Abramson front.

                    EDIT: College Hockey Inc says it's for 2018/19. Feel like that means bad news with Abramson and one of the USHL guys is coming in early

                          Bryce Misley's Oakville Blades need a W tonight to stay alive down 3-1 to Georgetown. He currently sits on 14 points in 14 playoff games, including 5 this series. (Winner is almost certain to face Trenton Golden Hawks in the final, who are up 3-0 in their series)

                          As for our newest recruit, Cory Thomas's Flin Flon Bombers are also down 3-1 in the SJHL semifinal, and will look to make the Nipawin Hawks go full Golden State Warriors. (Winner gets Battlefords North Stars in the final)

                          Owen Grant's Carleton Place Canadians could also use a win tonight, they're down 2-1 to Kemptville.

                          The Wiesblatt brothers' Brooks Bandits, on the other hand, are a win away from the AJHL final, which would be their 5th in 6 years. However, neither have played in the playoffs.

                          Looks like none of UVM's USHL commits will make playoffs. Only team that's still in it is Youngstown (Petrillo & Esposito) who's two back of Green Bay with a game in hand for the last playoff spot.

                          EDIT: I forgot about Ace Cowans's Waterloo who are in

                              Alex Esposito had the GWG last night for Youngstown to take the USHL playoff battle down to the last day. If they win, they're in; lose and Green Bay qualifies

                              • Re: UVM Recruiting: The future of Catamount hockey

                                Esposito scores the opening (and, as it turned out to be, winning) shorthanded goal as Youngstown beat the USNTDP 3-0 and make the playoffs on the last day. Let's take a look at how the USHL Catamounts did this season.

                                Vladislav Dzhioshvili - FW - Bloomington Thunder
                                Stats:
                                58 GP, 19-23-42, -9, 86 PIM

                                UVM's first Russian commit, and he definitely looks like a stud. The ex-Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knight (shoutout to my native region!) started the season with six pointless games, but then exploded for four points on October 22 against Cedar Rapids, and continued to play well down the stretch. He doubled his point total from last year, and led the Thunder in goals and points. His point total this year is roughly the same as Bowen's at that age and we all know how he looked this year; definitely excited for this kid and not just because I'm a biased Team Russia fan!

                                Alex Esposito - FW - Youngstown Phantoms
                                Stats:
                                59 GP, 18-16-34, +4, 144 PIM

                                Esposito started the season really strong, at one point sitting second in the USHL in goal scoring. However, his scoring evaporated as the calendar year changed, going 12 games without as much as a point. However he finished strong, scoring in four straight and five of six to end the season, including the GWG in two games against the USNTDP to help Youngstown slip into the last playoff spot. Barring a decommitment, he will be at UVM no matter what next season as he's burned his junior eligibility.

                                Ace Cowans - FW - Waterloo Black Hawks
                                Stats:
                                27 GP, 5-7-12, -3, 33 PIM

                                This one's a strange one, as he's not actually listed on Waterloo's roster page on the USHL site. Digging a little deeper, I found that he was placed on IR a while back with an undisclosed injury. Which is unfortunate as he was getting into some good form, pointing in his last four games before going down with this injury. He's also used his last year of junior eligibility.

                                Andrew Petrillo - DF - Youngstown Phantoms
                                Stats:
                                27 GP, 1-2-3, +2, 4 PIM

                                Not a whole lot to go by based on the numbers. From the looks of it he was more of an offensive defenseman in high school at Delbarton, but he didn't really show it with the Phantoms. It was his first season in the USHL though so there is room to improve. He's reportedly very very mobile and smooth in his own zone, so make of that what you will.

                                Carter Long - DF - Lincoln Stars
                                Stats:
                                57 GP, 1-3-4, +1, 47 PIM

                                This guy is big. Really big. Standing at 6'4", this is the kind of behemoth defender that takes a while to develop, as demonstrated by his 206-pound frame. If he fills out he has the potential to be a very good defensive defenseman. Just got his first USHL goal against Youngstown on March 31. He's got a friend, too...

                                Christian Evers - DF - Lincoln Stars
                                Stats:
                                60 GP, 8-10-18, +2, 69 PIM

                                Evers was a very late commit; originally committed to the North Dakota Fighting Hawks, he committed to UVM less than a month ago. Standing at 6'2" and 220, he's UVM's first USNTDP alumnus since Michael Paliotta, who he posted very similar numbers to with the NTDP. Make of that what you will.
