I'm thinking the David Carradine auto-erotica asphyxiation thing. At first, I was afraid it was gonna be drugs.
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

Can we have any national headline with "Cornell" in it that doesn't include "suicide"?

              Given Cornell's music? C'mon man...no way.

It's staring us in the face, and we all missed it because we've gone through times in our lives where we've agreed with those songs and it was soothing. Just like Layne/Alice in Chains.

Hell, even "Dusty" - with lyrics that gave the Down on the Upside LP its name - is as stark as it gets. Manic depression.

I agree with Fade. His lyrics on many of his songs show that his mind went to very dark places.

Was Cornell known to have a heroine addiction/fling at some point, or was Black Hole Sun based more upon observation and empathy? That song feels a little too intimate with the experience to simply be observation.

It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust, the very air you breathe is a poisonous fume." Boromir

It's no secret that Cornell did a lot of drugs/booze in the 90s. It's been said that he quit booze and cigs as a condition of the first Audioslave album for the sake of his voice (which was quite rough on that album). Heroin, I don't know, but he's definitely admitted to doing acid during the writing/recording of Superunknown. Which explains tracks like "4th of July" and "Black Hole Sun".

I think reading into the song lyrics may be a bit of an over-reaction. Robert Smith's (The Cure) lyrics are often just as dark and twisted, and he seems to be fine. Of course, it's all just speculation, but still....
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

He's 89. He's been in the hospital for several days. The only thing the Dodgers are saying is that he's "resting comfortably".

I love that Lasorda, who plays holier than thou with the best of them, is in truth the foulest talking man in baseball since Ted Williams.

"How did they know Lasorda passed away?"
