I have to agree with this statement (as much as it hurts to say it). I think there was a bit of overconfidence involved in it, definitely. The majority of the credit belongs to Clarkson for this one because they played one heck of a game. They came out hard and with a clear plan, they stuck to it and they were rewarded for their efforts. Hopefully it's something we learn as we move towards the playoffs. We have to bring 100% effort every single game or this will continue to happen. We've shown to be able to play through adversity before, so I hope they can do it again. No better time than Friday night against Princeton.

Re: St. Lawrence Saints 2016-17 Season

Oh boy........another step backward tonight. Only 2 games in 2 weeks, plenty of time to practice and get ready.......and, we come up empty for a second weekend in a row. The Pairwise PWR is all but gone. To have any chance we'd have to win out, get to Placid and win a game......or, just win the whole **** thing. Starting to sound like a familiar refrain from the past couple of years.

Princeton deserved to win tonight. They have done a good job of turning their season around. I thought scoring the first goal was just the tonic we needed. But Princeton started to dominate. We just can't put the biscuit in the basket. Uncharacteristically our D was not up to par tonight. Disappointing on so many levels. Time for the seniors to pull this team together and out of this mini slump. Guys like Smokes, Hudson, and all those D Seniors need to show what they've learned in 4 years and stop this slide. We have two tough weekends coming up and two very tough games on those weekends. (Cornell and Harvard) Plus, the way we've been playing we can't overlook Dartmouth and Colgate. Come on boys..........pull it together and get back on track.

It has been a long time since this team dominated and imposed their will on another team. Last game I saw where we dominated play was Colgate on the road. Need to get back to dominating play.

Re: St. Lawrence Saints 2016-17 Season

Big weekend coming up for the Saints. We have a talented Cornell team coming in who we lost to earlier in the season up in Ithaca and a Colgate team who has been playing better of late and has shown the ability to be a tough team to play against. This is our last regular season home games and I like our chances considering we are 10-2-1 at home so far. That, combined with the fact that we have been struggling a bit the past couple of weekends and will be looking to right the ship against a team we are tied with currently in the ECAC standings in Cornell, makes Friday's game especially important. A win Friday night against Cornell would go along way towards any potential at-large NCAA tournament bid scenarios that we could see down the road as well as the obvious impact it would have in our chances for the Cleary Cup as well as our chances of clinching a first round bye. Come prepared, play hard and fast and take it to them Saints. It's time for the senior leadership of this team to shine and carry us through. We got this ... Let's Go Saints!

I didn't realize the students were on break. Ugh, we could have used their support this weekend, especially considering the way we have been playing lately. We need all the help we can get. I will be there as well and glad to hear you're able to make your first game in 5 years. I don't know if I could ever make it that long without seeing my Saints in action live!

Unexpected coaching change, and then injuries galore (the extent/number of which I've never seen happen to an SLU Team EVER), we will nonetheless be playing for a top-4 ECAC RS finish and a home ice playoff bye Sat. against Colgate. That possible accomplishment is very impressive in my book and all of us should be delighted. I know that I am. GO SAINTS!

Don't know if I entirely agree with you Brian. I think we need to take a step back and say....... "Coming into the season, given the talent and roster; what was the expectation?" My expectation was one of two things.......either winning a title in Lake Placid....or, getting an NCAA berth." Both can still happen if the first happens. The latter doesn't appear to be capable of happening any more unless we win out in Lake Placid. I think any chance we had to move up on the PWR rested on beating two good teams in Cornell and the upcoming game against Harvard.

So given that expectation.........the story is yet to be written. My concern however is how the team has been playing the last few weeks. I'll be honest, based on what I saw tonight and last week and against Clarkson I don't see a team capable of winning out in Lake Placid or even in getting there. I know we are dinged up. I know we've had significant and long injuries. But the pace of play and look of the team does not at all seem to me like the team we saw over the first half of the year. I sure hope I'm wrong. I hope they can get the bye, heal up a bit and rest.....and make a run. But considering we've only played one game each of the previous two weekends resting up shouldn't be an issue. Hate to say it but I think we've underachieved given the expectation many of us had coming into this season. That can still get fixed but all the steps leading up to it happening lately have been missteps. And that doesn't bode well.

That's my main concern too, (unless just about every guy is playing with a serious injury) there has been barely any effort the past three weeks. They played hard for about 15 minutes last night and less than that at Clarkson and Princeton. This team right now looks like the last thing on earth they want to do is play hockey.

That being said with the talent on this team they could flip the switch and make a deep run not only through the ECAC's but even into the NCAA's. It would be a real shame for this group of seniors to go out with a whimper which is the way they are trending right now. Time to start grinding out 60 minutes each night again and things will get back on track quickly. Go Saints!

He is a big pickup and was a highly sought after recruit. He was recruited by some much larger programs from what I've been told.
