They have made significant improvements to Tsongas back in the 2010-2011 season. That rink is greatly improved and really good. It kind of helps when the rink is managed Spectra which is a subsidiary of Comcast that manages arenas across the country while UNH manages the Whittemore Center on its own.

They also upgraded their player's lounge and locker room in the past year. Other recent renovations include a new weight training area which includes a meeting room for video review and team meetings.

That is a big reason why Norm has been able to be a consistent winner there along with being a great coach. They have invested in the program.

With all due respect, guys ... if it wasn't for Coach Bazin, you could transport a brand new prototype of Agganis Arena into downtown Lowell, and the UML program would be back to the same state of permanent mediocrity it was in before Coach Bazin arrived. You don't seriously think having a better arena manager, nicer video room, fresh coat of paint in the home locker room, Hershey Kisses in the lockers between periods, etc. ad nauseum, equates with what Coach Bazin brings to the program, do you? Really??

Homework for you guys: take a trip down to the BU campus someday, and go check out the old Walter Brown Arena. Then explain to me how BU ran THE dominant program in the Northeast out of that craphole for about 40 years before Agganis was built? Good luck answering credibly without using the words "Kelley" and "Parker" repeatedly.

God, I loved watching games in that craphole! Wish Agganis could have some of the character the old place had.

Of course it's Coach Bazin that's the driving force behind Lowell's success. I was only pointing out how the University continues to invest in the program with ongoing upgrades to the arena. I would imagine these are upgrades that Norm feels are necessary to be on par with the top programs in the country. I certainly wasn't suggesting these improvements equate to what Norm brings to the program. Heck, I'm sure Norm would be successful playing at the Tully Forum.

No homework needed, I've been to the Walter Brown Arena many times.

Thanks for this Jeff! Love this quote especially:

"UNH was there for me for a lot longer than the other schools. Other colleges came along, but Souza is the guy who wants to see me go past college," said Verrier, who attended a camp at UConn when Souza was the assistant coach there."

Looking forward to Ryan coming to the U and what he can bring to our blue line!

Clearly an old school throw back type player who is unimpressed with modern locker room encumbrances such as electricity and ventilation. http://www.bceagles.com/news/2017/9/...-unveiled.aspx

This is one of Souza (11-year pro playing career) and Stewart's (9-year pro) selling points to recruits.

Don't forget roller hockey. Stewart was literally he11 on wheels during his short stint in that "pro" sport IIRC.
