BU has enough problems. What happens with BC-Lowell is the furthest thing from their minds right about now.

      Zzzzzzzzz

Congrats to lowell. They just strangle the life out of games and know how to execute what Bazin wants. Leaman has a natty but to me Bazin is the star coach in this league.

I agree with this...Bazin gets the most out of his players.

Not that any of this matters but a tie between BU and ND gives BC 2nd place. A win by either team gives BC 3rd place.

Going by the updated Pairwise, if the NCAA bids came out tomorrow, three of last year's Frozen Four teams (BC, North Dakota, Quinnipiac) would be sitting home.

              York +5
              Bazin +3
              Sneddon +2
              Dennehy +2
              Gendron +1

If you're using this as a small guide for voting on COY, it's pretty clear that it has to be one of the three coaches that shared the RS title.

              York.
Pros: Went +5, best in the league, and took a squad decimated by pro defections and amazingly tied UML and BU in the standings.
Cons: Team looks like they belong in the Super 8 rather than Hockey East as the season closes. Choked away a huge, huge lead.

              Quinn.
Pros: Given that he could NOT have a positive number with a preseason #1 rank, he did finish right on the money. Meeting high expectations is always welcome and you cannot be penalized for being ranked #1 going into a season.
Cons: With a talent differential equivalent to the Harlem Globetrotters vs the Washington Generals, BU somehow finished tied with BC, a glorified HS team right now. How did this happen?

              Bazin.
Pros: At +3, he had the second highest climb from the preseason expectations and also shared the RS title.
Cons: None? Somehow finished tied with BC?

Thoughts? By the time I got to Bazin I realized it's truly a reach to find a negative against him. It's a tough call. York did do an amazing job overall but seeing the team tank and not be able to defend, score, or put together a powerplay really makes it hard to make the vote here in the end of February. Quinn, you feel like perhaps even though he did win, the point differential in the standings would be higher and he would not have had to share it given such talent on the roster. UML... they are peaking at the right time, terrific team, terribly difficult to play against, Bazin may be the choice.

Matt Boldy commits to BC. Big get for Ayers and Brown. He was #3 on my list of top uncommitted '01s in New England. #2 and #3 are now committed. Here's more info on Boldy:

Been a busy week so far, haven't seen anything on this. Did Hockey East give any suspension to Mueller for the elbow to Gaudreau last Friday?

Ha forgot about that. Have not seen anything. Must have ruled Gaudreau's head got in the way

Having read Connelly's latest column, he finishes with talk of the awards. I know we've discussed York for COTY quite a bit, but it is disturbing and somewhat telling that not a single guy on his list was from BC (Blaine Byron though? LOL). You could, and should, make a case for Cangelosi to be included as he has had a nice year with points but also as pretty much the top faceoff guy out there in the country. But... very telling. And this is why when it comes down to it, BC is not even going to come close to sniffing anything in the postseason, NCAA bid included.
