I'm amazed he still was available when he committed April 19th. I bet the only reason he was added was the early loss of Devon Toews.
I was also shocked about how late he was still available. Maybe he had zero intention of going to college until someone from Q convinced him otherwise? It's not like he was undersized or underdeveloped, though his skating and strength need to improve, at 6'2" 215 lbs.

BU jumped from #4 to #2 pushing Q to #3.

Oh, OK -- he was in juniors. So I guess the next question is what made him choose juniors instead of playing in his hometown.

I wouldn't be shocked that the San Jose Sharks suggested to him to play in the USHL to further evaluate his development in the United States and they might have pushed for him to possibly play college hockey.

It seems like Quinnipiac hockey's recruiting strategy has changed. Of the 21 future verbal commits 16 of the 21 are from the east coast. Quinnipiac has 5 commits from NJ, 3 from MA & CT each, 2 of RI, 1 from NY & 2 from Nova Scotia. The rest of from CA, KS, MN, WI & Alberta. With the Quinnipiac name out there and the success the past 4 years its seems they can get talented players from the east to commit more now than they have in the past. It seems like they are not relying heavily on kids out of western Canada like they did in the past. That is not to say they won't recruit there anymore but with so much hockey talent in the northeast and more growing in the mid-atlantic it makes recruiting that much easier than the past when the program has reached the tournament 4 years in a row and the National Championship game as well. Its definitely something to look at.

As for the weekend, three points is fantastic. While we all expect 4, I've certainly tamed my expectations for this team.

I'm extremely worried about how the offense will produce when we face a hot goalie. We have for the last 5 years (since I started watching my freshman year) been a shot heavy team. Meaning we settle for low percentage shots and throw them at the goalie's chest (ie National Champ Game against Yale). Last year we were able to take better and higher percentage shots because of the skill level on offense. We don't have that this year, so we need T Clifton, Duane, and any other able body to fight around the crease for those hard nosed goals. Without them, we cannot compete for another ECAC Championship or get a win in the NCAA tournament.

Truehl gives me a lot of hope for this team. Clearly, goaltending was the biggest question. I'll never forget Garteig's first weekend in net after Hartzell graduated, against Lowell. His compete level was there and he seemed like a more complete goaltender (or had the potential to be) than Hartzell. That obviously happened. While I don't think Truehl will be better than Garteig, it looks as though he will be an above average netminder for us behind a strong defense and thats all we need him to be for the time being.

Excited to see what adventure this team takes us on this year. It's been a great ride over the years, hoping for many more.

Feel like that would be a really interesting article.
