Don't know. I thought we've moved beyond that issue. Arizona State needs to come up with an arena solution fairly soon or they may find themselves back at the ACHA level. They can continue to play as a D1 independent for a while but at some point it's going to start making recruiting more difficult if they don't have a conference to call home, and the arena issue is holding that up.

Lakers did not play and the night still turned out bad as the bottom teams all won. Arizona is struggling it seems to get the arena they need to get a conference to join. Also it still seems to be up in the air what is going to happen to the Alaska teams. All this should prove interesting .

I believe the Alaska school's situation is not in dire straights now.

The Alaska schools are back on solid ground. But they've had major holes blown in at least two recruiting classes and negative effects on at least two more.

I think there may be some questions for the long-term concerning the Alaska teams, but I think for the immediate future they will be fine.

But yeah, ASU really needs to figure something out now. Not sure what they will be able to do now that they aren't working with the Yotes, as I don't know how much of a budget they've given to the hockey program in general.

NMU sweeping BGSU really just gave the Lakers a realistic shot at home ice for the 1st round of the WCHA playoffs.

They'd probably have to win at least 5 of their last 6 games.

The big problem is that they're in competition with Ferris State. The good thing is that they have two games left against each other. This season is going to be interesting down to the finish...

They need to stop losing the third periods. If they can play 60 minutes of hockey, they could win the last six games . In the power rankings, the WCHA finds five of its teams in the bottom ten of college hockey ratings .

Not one team from the WCHA in the top 20 this week. The Atlantic Conference even has one at number 20 .

In 8 games with the Erie Otters, smooth skating defenceman and former LSSU Laker, Owen Headrick, has 2 goals and 2 assists in 8 games, and his team is 8-0 in that stretch and sits a top the Ontario Hockey League.

Methinks he made the right choice, now playing against far superior talent and teams than in the WCHA with the likes of Alabama Huntsville, Alaska Anchorage and the other 3 of the bottom 10 teams in college hockey.

Scouts have had an eye on Owen for a while, and now more and more people are seeing why, and it couldn't happen to a better kid or family, man.
