  • College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Season gets underway in a couple weeks with Cal and Hawaii in Australia.

Tampa will host the CFP Championship, with the Peach and Fiesta Bowls getting their first semifinals.

Big XII has said they will listen to presentations from anyone who has a desire to join, so the list is now at 18 potential prospects.

I think the only way the Big 12 expands is if Texas has a "get out" option. There's no way they want to be in a conference with 2 or 4 guys in that list.

I would assume all sport with the exception of BYU, whose no Sunday policy probably wouldn't mesh well in a P5 conference where TV owns all.

                Mine are coming next week.

I'll be running pick 'em again this year just so the few of us who play can do it again.

No love for Boise State eh?

Redfield, Stepherson and Williams were also booked on charges of possessing a handgun without a license. Both of these charges are misdemeanors.

Free rides for illegal handguns. That's a problem imo.

The Michigan fans I know are claiming this is The Year they win a national title. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they have to beat Ohio State and Michigan State to get there?

And even if they did make the CFP, I'm sure Alabama would destroy them.

Not only have to go through MSU and OSU on the road, but also have to go to Kinnick to play Iowa at night.

To be fair, they don't really have competition until the MSU game. Their non-con opponents were a combined 7-31 last season, and all are at home. Next is PSU who I expect to be bad this year. Wisconsin could be a challenge, but they're not supposed to be too strong this season. Their first road game doesn't come until October 8, and it's at Rutgers. Then a home game against Illinois before they play at MSU. Unless Wisconsin ends up being tougher than expected, no reason they shouldn't be 7-0 going into East Lansing.

Wisconsin, on the other hand, could realistically start the season 2-5. Season opener at Lambeau vs LSU, a couple cupcakes, then at UM, at MSU, vs OSU, and at Iowa.

I don't expect Iowa to be any good this year. That was a senior heavy class last season.

Of course that doesn't stop Michigan from losing to them.

Not sure if I'm biting or not..

                              Senior heavy?

They return 8 of 11 starters from last year's #19 scoring Defense and #22 total defense including the Jim Thorpe Award winner, 1st Team All American Desmond King who turned down the NFL for one more year at Iowa. His counter part is a senior and 2 year starter who will be drafted as well. A fantastic MLB, good DTs and depth tbere, the defense will be better than a year ago barring lots of injuries.

Iowa also returns 3 of 4 running backs on offense, CJ Beathard at QB who is a career 13-2 starter that changed the entire program last year and who is finally healthy.. (He was hurt in week 3 last year and played injured with a sports hernia and bad groin the rest of the year) He will be drafted as well. they return 6 of their top 8 Offensive Lineman, all of whom have experience thanks to injuries last year, as well as their top WR and TE from a year ago.

I'd be very surprised if Iowa was 12-0 in the regular season again, but the Hawkeyes should be better than they were a year ago.
