I have been told that there are no tie-breakers for the Cleary Cup. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Has there ever been a tie?

              Yes, its happened twice
              1987–88 Harvard and St. Lawrence
              2005–06 Dartmouth and Colgate

..and from that font of wisdom at Wikipedia

"The Cleary Cup, named for former Harvard player and coach Bill Cleary, is awarded to the team with the best record in league games at the end of the regular–season. There is no tie–breaking procedure should two or more teams end the season with the same record and the trophy is shared. A tie breaking procedure is applied to determine the top seed in the ECAC conference tournament. The Cleary Cup winner is not given any special consideration in the NCAA tournament as the ECAC awards its automatic bid to the winner of the ECAC tournament."

Wonder how two teams "share" a trophy.

How about three teams. I believe that it is a mathematical possibility that Cornell, Union, and Harvard could all share the trophy. How crazy is that?

Now that IS crazy. Maybe if that happened the ECAC would rethink their policy of no tiebreakers.

I think the way they would do it is to take the records of the teams that are tied and look at how they fared against the top four teams in the ECAC. At least that is how the women do it. The team with the best record finishes first. The next best finishes second and so forth.

Two more wins and the Cleary Cup returns to Messa...
The road will go through Lynah and Gate two very tough places to play.
This team has terrific leadership and resilience. They will need both to make a deep run in the playoffs.
Great to lock up the top four finish; get a week off plus home ice.
Congrats to the Seniors on a fantastic four years. You started off with a NC and you are poised to make another run at it again. Congrats to each of you.

                          Colgate is improving.
They recently sweep Yale and Brown
They are 2-1-1 in their last 4
This year they are 6-5-3 on home ice, (2-11-3 away)
Since January 1 (6 home games) they are 4-2-0
They are fighting to gain home ice. Their back is to the wall.
They are a period 3 team.
They are a solid defensive team as we learned in Schenectady.
                          In Hamilton, from 2003 -2017 we are 2-10-2 (Shabby's Curseeeeee) : eek:
"Union is something along the lines of 3-25-2 against Colgate when playing the Raiders in Hamilton."

The Quinnipiac game was a solid performance, it was nice to see Sak in goal. Good hockey played on both side, Union was able to finish when needed. Quinnipiac showed good talent, but the team effort/synergy seemed a bit inconsistent.

The Princeton game was good too, even with questionable refs (thanks for the 2nd penalty against the Tigers, make up call IMO). Again the difference was the ability to finish. If Princeton had played like this from the beginning of the season, they would be a top 4 team IMO. Their speed and grit is quite an asset.

                            This showed me 2 things:
                            - if the other team gives us a chance, the puck will end up at the back of the net.
                            - if we keep showing good scoring and assist diversity, we're a force to be reckoned with.

I'm really hoping for another week end with a real 60 minutes effort from the whole team each night.
                            Let's go Union !
                            ECAC Regular season champion : 2010-11, 2011-12, 2013-14, 2016-17
                            ECAC Tournament champion : 2012, 2013, 2014
                            NCAA champion : 2014

It all starts with the goaltending.
