Today, no, but in two years I'm thinking Schmaltz may have you forgetting about Shaw. The preceding post may contain trigger words and is not safe-space approved. <-- Virtue signaling.

A friend of mine had his son drafted in the 5th round by the Bruins.

Reflecting on earlier Blackhawk personnel losses, no one "has me forgetting" about Bolland and Frohlik. Both of those players had great value in terms of their specific skill sets and team chemistry. I put Shaw in that category.
Other 3rd/4th line forwards have been more readily replaced. It's also true that when a guy has played a key role in Cup wins, there's a risk that sentimentality will lead one to overestimate his value going forward. But even with those factors in mind, my position is that Shaw's departure is a big loss; a loss that goes well beyond his production numbers.
Still, I don't mean to express skepticism about any player soon to arrive.

So, who do you think are going to be the top three spenders this NHL FA period?

With DET clearing Datzyuk's contract I'd say DET is going to make a strong run at Stamkos. They now have the cap space. The preceding post may contain trigger words and is not safe-space approved. <-- Virtue signaling.

And depending on where Bishop signs, DET could potentially dangle Howard at them to allow even more cap space.
I have a hunch if Howard isn't moved in the next few weeks, he's in Detroit for the next year (potentially unprotected in the Vegas expansion draft).“Demolish the bridges behind you… then there is no choice but to build again.”
