^ A look at the new away jersey. I like it MUCH more than the home version. It's the first jersey in a very long time that really accentuates the red.

EDIT: Here's a link to the new home jersey. https://***********/BrownMensHockey/...29243262894081

Too much white on the shoulders for my taste. I LOVED the home jersey they had last year with the solid brown shoulder patch.

Will be interesting to see where Doane fits into the line up this year - definitely added needed energy and spark last season when in the line up. I would like to see Willman, Corcoran, Lappin as a line- they played very well together before Lappin's injury last season. Very much looking forward to what the freshmen can bring to the team this year. As far as defense, what are peoples thoughts on McCardle and Gottleib on different pairings? As far as goalie, seems like it could be anyone's net this year.

Any one at last night's Bruins/Devils game in Providence? It must have been strange to see Nick Lappin battling against Marc Naclerio. I'm headed to the TU tonight to see Bobby Farnham, trying to get my Brown hockey fix. Turk, will you be there?

              No Mike, especially now that it’s 3:55 & the game's @ 5pm.
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

Has anyone been to Holy Cross' rink? Is it worth battling rush hour traffic from north of Boston on a Friday evening to watch Brown play there in a couple weeks? Holy Cross is looking pretty good so far this year, so I'm thinking it might be a fun game to see.

Also, does anyone know why the Mayor's Cup game is on Sunday, rather than Saturday? PC plays at BC on Friday and Brown has the aforementioned game in Worcester, so the travel is pretty light and it seems like there would be no obstacle to playing on Saturday night (or afternoon). I hate to conflict with the Patriots; it always depletes the crowd.

I have been there. The place isn't bad, and may have had some renovations of late. In the past, the sightlines are not great, but it doesn't sell out or anything like that. It's almost like a smaller version of Houston Fieldhouse, in that most of the seats are on the sides of the rink, not behind the goals, but much smaller and with far less character/noise. I think there were some renovations that were done beyond the bowl, but I don't think it impacted the seating at all.

Whether or not it's worth a ride into Worcester is not necessarily my place to comment (I don't live far). If you do, there are good places to eat/imbibe not far from the campus.

I know that's not the most ringing endorsement, but there are worse places to watch a hockey game.

Thanks for the insight! It's good to know that they don't sell out regularly. I was hoping to kind of make my decision on the fly, as I'll have to leave straight from work and I'm not sure if I'll feel like dealing with the traffic.

Unfortunately, my favorite Worcester eatery (an authentic Armenian place called Shiraz) just closed this past spring. Maybe I'll peruse the places you referenced near CHC.

                          Willman-Corcoran-Bird

                          Gottlieb-McArdle
                          Cooper-Giuttari

                          1. It's certainly fun to speculate...

                          2. Expect the Willman-Lafferty-Bird combination to be broken up, with Bird playing alongside Marchin and Lafferty, and Willman playing with Corcoran and Lappin.

                          3. Brent Beaudoin is a player with enormous potential and a natural center. I think Alex Brink would fit in well with him, with Gessert or Dodd on the other wing, though Gessert is more of a center.

                          4. It looks like Gottlieb, McArdle, Cooper and Schoo would be the top four defensemen. Brendan has a total of ten defenders available, and it's therefore hard to predict the exact composition of the top six. Much will depend on this weekend's practice games against Princeton and Yale.

                          4. Aleksi Rossi will be a forward this year.

I love the idea of Willman-Corcoran-Lappin! So much speed between the three of them.

Excited to see how the team looks next week.

Albeit still relatively young, this is a much more experienced team than last year's. If the goaltending holds, the Bears could have a good season. And no key players will graduate at the end of this season.

I have been in the Mediterranean Sea on a 2 week cruise visiting and eating my way around Italy, Spain, Portugal, France and Gibraltar(UK). I come back and with less than one week to go before RPI and Union kick off the ECAC campaign and I find only 22 contestants. Come on people. You have until Friday at 7PM to get your picks in or amend your previous picks. If doing an amendment just give me a new post with your revised picks and state that they are revised.
