Agreed. And yeah, figuring out who "they" is would be important. Hoping this was Souza's call.

Interesting Massie chose to go to UVM. Would guess that Micheletto and/or Gasparini had some influence on his decision.

"Dylan Chanter Dylan Chanter Dylan Chanter Corson Green Corson Green"

Am writing an article on Corson Green. Would be surprised if he only plays in a handful of games in his first two seasons at UNH (a la Chanter).

Tick tock, tick tock, three big holes to fill at center and the blue line for this fall; time is a movin'.

They're better off standings pat - there is no Poturalski replacement out there worth offering money and any Kalinowski or Furgele replacements would simply be lateral moves. The team should eat those openings and make upgrades going forward...

Makes sense; so leave that money on the table, and fill the slots with walk ons?

Agree that it's too late, unless they can convince Baillargeon to finish up here for a year. Would be a nice upgrade. Of course, Quinnipiac lost a couple of kids, needs help, he's from CT, and Quinnipiac has a good graduate program (Justin Agosta).
But it is surprising that UNH didn't make any real moves to upgrade for next year, particularly on D.

Maybe, or nobody. They have enough bodies to fill up the line up and add some depth - it's not as if this is a team set to make a run and an injury or two would really hurt them.

If they can find a young, talented kid who wants to come to college ahead of schedule (a la Goumas or Dawson) then maybe they make a move. Otherwise, I'm not on board with bringing in bodies just to do so. I think that's part of what has led them to where they are. I remember some early York BC teams playing awfully short handed because the strategy was to save roster spots for future talent rather than current mediocrity. It has certainly panned out for them...

Also regarding Hoky's earlier unhappy freshman argument - this is undoubtedly and rightfully true, but is only an issue going forward (I.e. Starting immediately) if they let it. These kids won't play for Umile. They'll play for Souza, who should be loudly telling every recruit, coach, advisor and anyone else who will listen that things have changed. Tell everyone that playing time will be earned with zero strings attached and emphatically and consistently remind these kids that they'll be playing for him and NOT the regime that mishandled so many young players. In a sense it can almost be an advantage because he can effectively put his stamp on the program as he sells kids during the recruiting process...

The two concerns would be - is he willing (to some degree) to undermine his current boss and will his current boss back up his sales pitch with action over the next two years. If Souza is selling open competition in practice and Umile continues to sit FR or play them in limited roles that could hurt Souza and UNH even if it's out of his hands and the message is truth...

Fortunately, UNH is all but out of upperclassmen who could steal roles simply based on loyalty and due to roster numbers and make-up a lot of young players should see a lot of ice moving forward...

Isn't Nick Nonis supposed to be another D-man coming this Fall? I didn't see his name included on 'Watcher's list.

Hmmm, still listed in Elite Prospects as coming this fall.

I just omitted him because there really is no pure "walk-on" type on Defense, so I now put him as replacing Quast, though he is really a few steps below that. I moved Wyse to replace Furgele, if Furgele has indeed been cut, as rumored.

So, at least four frosh forwards will not be sitting in the stands for each game.

I can't imagine them going into the season this way. So, either Baillargeon, a loose recruit (a former St.Lawrence or U.Mass kid, or Ivy kid who can't get in) or a 17 year old true freshman from Canada gets an offer to go to college immediately before other schools.
