      saw 2 models (1 not very accurate, the other... well ) has it doing a loop and hitting miami, then havana, from the northeast
      a legend and an out of work bum look a lot alike, daddy.

          So, this is one of two places to discuss this. And since it's the most active, I'll put it here.

          Do you guys think the meteorologists that work at weather underground still respect the website? Not the concept or the organization, but the website.

          You can no longer get model data. The radar has no options for "HD", angle, and you can't get level II data anymore. The wundermap is no longer a wonder but a generic map that can be found on any site.

          What about some of the original members that stayed on when it was bought by TWC? Do you think the founders regret selling at all?

          I'm still trying to find a replacement that has that perfect combination of science and form.

            I suspect the originals who mattered moved on. It's like getting bought by any big fish: your security goes up (after the initial 50% cuts) but your job satisfaction craters.

            I fit the enormous Evil Corp. I work for, but I'm ancient and I care about reachback if my customer comes out of their stupor one morning and whimsically cuts every contractor with a prime number of letter in his or her last name. It's like a bond portfolio: it fits my stage of life. But I were young I'd flee to someplace vulnerable but non-soul-destroying. That's what WU was once.

                  It's really eerie that it's missing landfall by only a few miles as it works up the coast. Good for wind damage, but just as bad (worse?) for flooding.

                            Where I am outside Tampa, we got spared. Really couldn't have differentiated between this and any regular summer storm, heck, a summer storm probably would have been worse. Don't believe we had winds above 30-35mph, just some steady rain.

                            A good friends grandparents stayed put in Ft Pierce, and have reported that they made it out fine. Dang stubborn folks, but glad they didn't get in trouble.

                            Buddy in Ft Lauderdale just said they barely got any rain, and maybe gusts to 50.

                                All good here in Orlando - never lost power, no scary wind, no rain flooding. Power is out at our house, for sure, and we won't make it back home to assess the damage until tomorrow.
