This one makes no sense to me....

Obama is going to allow the DOJ to "consider" criminal charges against Her Royal Highness The Queen in Waiting but then he will issue a pardon in exchange for her promise to appoint him to Supreme Court.

I can't imagine that Obama would ever want to be on the Supreme Court.

Certainly not as an associate justice, anyway, and Roberts is going to be Chief for the next 20+ years.

(Kinda cool to imagine what Obama will do, however. He's got a lot of very productive years ahead of him.)

Rumor is Sec General of the UN. With the graft in the UN, he'd be set up better than a Chicago Alderman.

No way does the Sec Gen come from a major power.

Things I can imagine Obama doing, in diminishing order of probability:

+ Create a Global Philanthropic Foundation (this is a certainty)
+ CJ of SCOTUS if something happened to Roberts
+ US Ambassador to the UN (for a short term)
+ US Ambassador to the EU (for an even shorter term)
    + Secretary of State
    + Secretary of {Some Newly Created Department}
    + President of Harvard

Yeah, the UN SecGen theory gives libs the tingles and cons the ragefits, but it's been pointed out that a UNSG will never come from one of the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Not at all. Liberals aren't into Obama and mainline Democrats want him active in the party. Obama's going to be a blue chippah for being associated with causes, and the UN is well down the priority list.

    Welp, this was inevitable.

It hasn’t even been a week since the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Zika virus a global emergency, and already the conspiracy theories are piling up.

    from your link:

The [Des Moines Register] editorial ends by calling on the state's Democratic Party to “work with all the campaigns to audit results. Break silly party tradition and release the raw vote totals. Provide a list of each precinct coin flip and its outcome
ha, that will never happen! They don't even know the raw vote totals.

though I do understand how people might expect the Clinton team to use a two-faced coin....

If this gets the Democrats to release straight vote counts it's worth it.

It's all by the honor system, though. I was amazed how shoddily they did the counts (both parties -- but the GOP is better because it actually produces a paper trail of those little handwritten notes (though I'm not sure they save them), whereas the Dem counts were of hands, people standing, counting off, etc).

I'm mad at Iowa for looking like idiots, because as God is my witness caucuses are the way I wish all states did it instead of primaries. I really like the effort and the educational opportunities. It's the closest we still have to real democracy.

That's one problem. Another, which I found unbelievable, is that the counts are done by the candidates' representatives and then reported up the line to the chair. It's not that it's an opportunity for abuse (though it is). It's almost a guarantee that people will mess up the counts, or the transmittal of the counts, or the assignment of delegates, or something else.

I really like it but it's dumb.

The GOP version is just a primary with mandatory attendance to listen to stump speeches. And don't forget they farked up big time four years ago, declaring Romney the winner for a week or so when Santorum actually won the stupid thing.

The Dems' version is more chaotic, but it's a true caucus.

And coin flips, while rare, are far from unprecedented. There are stories every election about some small race that ended in a tie and had to be broken by done game of chance. The caucuses are just a collection of really small races. No surprise that some required coin flips.

You had something like 2200 caucus sites between both parties. Most of the time, the local party leaders will also be stumping for their preferred candidate. Good luck finding several thousand party activists who are still neutral.

Use the pizza rule. Have the counter come from an opponent. That way the counter and the counted have adversarial agendas and everybody is on notice to catch all errors, intentional or not.
