      Boom. There it is.

Apparently it was a 6-year deal. Terms not known quite yet.

EDIT: Just over $132 over 6 years.

lol. I was just now reading this story about Collins being the guy, in the News.
The decision to stick with what they’ve got appears to have been made
I should just come here for my news.

So, are the Tigers good enough to compete for a division title?

Eta. I saw the freep declared them WS contenders now.

Best part of it is the two yr opt out if true. Cespedes was too expensive I guess.

Cespedes is also two years older, with a lower career OBP and OPS. Don't get me wrong, I was quite pleased with Cespedes in LF last season. But that 2-year opt out might work to our advantage in a couple years if it gets exercised. Ilitch would be 88 by then. I won't go any further with that train of thought.

The Freep is a dog**** rag. The Detroit News is marginally better, at best.

To answer your question, yes the Tigers are good enough to compete for a division title......if they stay healthy. I'm operating under the assumption that Victor Martinez is going to be fully healthy this year, and we'll see a season closer to the 2014 version than last year. Cabrera is also going to be 33 in mid-April, too. Verlander was finally Verlander the last two months of the season as well. If Norris is near 100% after his offseason, that's fine for the #4 slot, assuming that Sanchez is going to give us somewhere north of 180 innings, too. We can cobble together a #5 starter by hook or by crook. The bullpen was finally addressed in detail this year. We'll see how that holds up.

                        Why?

There are now eight possible tv commentator pairings. That's about seven too many. Do other teams do this? The only one I know of is the Dodgers and that's because of Scully's travel restrictions.

Tigers lost a spring game. They are obviously going nowhere.
