Mmmm... bourbon
Poland was Germany's price for losing WW1 and WW2. Ukraine was Russia's price for losing the Cold War. I wouldn't count on the territorial integrity of either.
Let's go back to the really old sides: Hapsburgs vs. Bourbons, who ya got?![]()

I'd like to include the Romanovs, but Ivan the Terrible was just warming up.
Luther had staked his Thesis, Henry VIII had broken with Rome, and the 30 years war was on the horizon.
Like now, Europe was/is a powder keg.
But, to answer your question, I stand with the Holy Roman Empire.
Greater Moravia for me. The rest of you are just the Decadent West or jumped-up Huns. Not to mention that it's all been sh-ite since the 10th century.

It's not exactly like black licorice, but it's close. And I hate black licorice. There's a reason 'anise' and 'anus' are so similar.
I imagine they called it anise because the person who tasted it for the first time said, "That's horrible! It tastes like anus!" It was misheard and it stuck.
Did you really just explain your own joke in a second paragraph?
There's the licorice you can get at The Sweet Shop and then there's real licorice. I love the former. The latter is like having an iron file scrape along your tongue. It is so strong it completely blows away any of the accompanying flavors for me.
But I would dearly love to have a licorice alcohol that can get me drunk while not (a) making me feel like a 10th grader on a spree or (b) giving me a headache that lasts until the middle of the subsequent work week.

Obvious guesses:A senior European intelligence official tells The Associated Press that his country might stop sharing information with the United States if it confirms President Donald Trump shared classified details with Russian officials.
The official said Tuesday that doing so “could be a risk for our sources.”
The official spoke only on condition that neither he nor his country be identified, because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

How much autonomy do EU member states have in foreign policy? Ukraine's defense and foreign secretaries are sitting with the Germans and they're basically talking (notional, not implementation) about defense against Ivan. If this feels like we're going to party like it's 1910 or 1935, well...

I'm fixing my problem by moving directly downwind of Fort Detrick. The only problem is bacillus anthracis takes up to two months to kill you. Dr. Mrs. is luckier. She'll be underneath one of the Voevoda MIRVs and literally go in a flash.
